Steampunk Moths

With not much of an idea in mind, I started laying out some resin pieces on a wooden panel.

Gave the substrate a coat of white crackle and also added pieces of Prima Re-Design Poly Decor.

Stuck everything down and gave it a couple of coats of gesso.

I mixed some mica powders with acrylic extender and made a paste which I painted over the crackle.

I used a different colour or mica powder and painted the steampunk moths.

I painted the main elements with Finnabair metallique rustic brown paint.

Added some waxes until I liked what I'd go.  I decided only to use the large steampunk moth in the end.  Added some TH words from the sticker book.

Love how it came out.

Elivs - Decorated Vinyl

As I am one of Finnabair patreons, I had to try out this fab idea that she showed on one of her live sessions.  So off I went to the car boot to find a vinyl LP. It was dead easy as there were loads for sale, but I settled for Elvis.

I added some stencilling to the background using icing paste.

Next I added some woodland finds, random twigs and poppy seeds.

Next I added some chipboard circles and cogs.

I started to play around with the placement of some moulds, new and old.

This is the finished piece. Not my usual colours.

I decided to challenge myself to mainly pink and red, but a bit of blue and purple crept in too.

I can't tell you what I used as I just kept going until I liked it.

I used mica powders, paints and sprays.

I added splatters to the places where there were no embellishments.

Love how the colours just mixed and ran into each other.

And the final piece again and apologies for my arms at the bottom, but there was glare from the vinyl.

Spanner Plaque

I picked up a couple of spanners from the car boot. I also got the wood from an old pallet.

I painted it with black powertex and then used silver icing paste through a stencil.

I then started playing around with some resin and metal pieces.

I painted everything black apart from the spanner, but felt like everything got lost in the background.

So I gave the background a wash of teal.

I used silver treasure gold on all of the black pieces.  I still think it needs more definition.

So I added some rust effects to it.

I'm happy with it now and it's for sale in my online shop.

Steampunk Dragonfly Altered Bottle

Lovely shaped empty gin bottle.

Firstly I gave the bottle a coat of black powertex and once dry a coat of Pebeo Dyna paint.

I made some resin casts from the moulds and I tied the steampunk plate onto the bottle to get it to hold in the position I wanted it be.

I did this one different as I painted all the pieces first and then used the powertex to glue them on.

And finally I added a few sparkly sprinkles for a bit of bling.

Altered Southern Comfort Bottle

Empty Southern Comfort bottle.

Using the stone art clay I carefully peeled out the very large cog and moulded it onto the bottle and left it to dry as I wanted it to hug the bottle.

Laid wooden, resin and metal embellishments out until I liked what I'd done.

Stuck and painted all the embellishments with black powertex.

Then I went a bit mad with the colours.
