Gelli-plate Image Transfers

 

Using Tracie Fox's gelli plate transfer technique, this was the first print that came out at the third attempt.  I think the first two times I put too much paint on, so there was no definition.

This was the second one and using even less paint it turned out much clearer.

And finally my favourite one. I love the build up from all the other pulls.

The two that went wrong, I have made into backgrounds for tags.

KC Workshop at The Craft Box

So yesterday I attended a workshop Kate Crane at The Craft Box in Barnsley.

It's also an auction room and there were loads of antiques around.

Fabulous craft space, loads of room between the tables of four.

Lots of old uniforms and mini bottles waiting to be catalogued.

It was like an Aladdin's cave down that end, but that's also where the tea and coffee were.

We were making backgrounds using a gelli plate.

We were doing it Kate fashion and applying the paint to our plates with our fingers.

We were also using Kates new Carabelle texture plates on the gelli plates.

These are all the lovely gifts I received from Anna, Lin and Chris. No coin excuses now!! Can't wait to Powertex that skull and I used some of the T!m images and words on my house I made.

These are the mini marvels that I made at the workshop. A couple of cones, a couple of mini books and a mini T!m house with a mini book inside.

Thanks for a lovely workshop Kate and it was great to see Chris and Lin again and finally meet up with Anna. 

Mini Gelli Prints

All set up to have a play with Birgit Koopsens gelli plate ideas with medium gel, gesso and sprays which you can see here.

And these are the results. Not sure I'll do it again but was good to have a play and know that gesso and gel medium don't ruin the gelli plates!!!

Gelli Plate Play

I'd had an idea brewing for a while. I pulled some gelli prints and chose the ones with the most white space to brayer on DecoArt multi surface satin neon paints. 

This is a good way to extend to the edges of the paper so you end up with a full A4 sheet as opposed to the 8 x 10 you get from the gelli print.

Added some background stamping using my new to me set of Seth Apter Solar System stamps and various colours of stazon inks.

I chose four of the prints and cut them into four (A6), added marks with paint and a sharpie pen to each piece.

And finally I made them into cards and added a main image to most of them.

I used a PA mini image in a frame as the focal piece for this card.

A Tim Holtz image stamped onto tissue, you can actually still see the background underneath through the tissue.

And I haven't used my Stampotique stamps for a while, so out they came. The images were coloured with distress pens.

And as I had some strips of gelli print left, I stuck them on the inside of the insert. 

I purposely haven't put any sentiments on any of them as I don't know what I want them for yet.

Play Days

Emma came over for a couple of days to play, but first she had to have some Fraz time.

She played with the mini gelli plate as there simply wasn't enough room to get the 8 x 10 out and both of us be in the room at the same time - lol.

And can you believe, I couldn't, that she's never played with shaving foam, so off I went upstairs to find some!!

Fraz was totally worn out last night by the time we'd got back from our meal at the pub.

This morning he realised she was still here, so went and made friends again.

Today we played with tags, atcs, a mini canvas and crackled some wooden hearts.

This is my canvas that I did using the eye by Limor Webber, PA script and splats minis and the circles from a Finn plate with Dylusion paints and stazon ink.

And then Emma painted her canvas and had me on a mission to find a stamp that said something like Home is where the Heart is. Well I knew I didn't have anything like that but I looked to see if there was anything else suitable, but there wasn't so she's taken it home to finish it.

We used some different crackle products and this is my atc using weathered wood crackle glaze.

These are the effects of the shaving foam on glossy card using alcohol inks - pretty cool hey.

She also played with DecoArt dazzling metallic paints on the gelli plate and brushos, but I didn't get any photos of those.

Gelli Plate Play

Dylusions teal and red which made a purple in the middle where they blended. These paints are lush on the gelli plate but dry extremely quickly!!!

And the purple and pink in the Dylusions

And the pink and the orange, again in the Dylusions

And the teal and the orange and where they blended it made a green

And left, the pink and red and right the red and it pulled some yellow which was left on the plate

And finally for the Dylusions orange and lime and on the right purple and teal with lime splodges!

And this one was created using the DecoArt multi surface satin paints

The dolphin, which is a steely grey is absolutely gorgeous

And this was using one of the greens and a blue in the DA satins

And the chartreuse and orange sherbet. I also added some drying time extender as I wasn't sure how open the paints would be. Put a bit too much on which is why it beaded up, but love the effect it created.

And I wanted to try them on fabric and they came out really well, am really pleased with them
