Just Doodling

This really is nothing more than a chilling out doodling page. I opened a page in my buried journal and just wanted to get my fingers messy.

PA challenge is hearts.

Paint by Numbers

Just had to crack open my Dylusion paints as I've had them since Monday!!!  I used the PINK and the orange for the background, they are lush and blend together really nicely. Using a large number stencil I used the blue to stencil through. I added lots more images and stenciling to incorporate a number theme as over at That's Crafty they wanted to see numbers this week.

Sprays, splats and drippage

Over at PaperArtsy this week they are asking for sprays, so using sprays of all kinds but only in greens and purples and some stencils, I created this background.

Then I added some random stamping using T!m Holtz images in black archival and finally added some lines in olive green stazon from a Hero Arts stamp.

Orange & Purple Combo

I set a tag swap for orange and purple colour combo, so here are mine.  They are just primary elements on the background, ginger peach and wild plum, with some stamping in black and purple stazon and hi-lights with a white posca pen.  And finally ribbon and fibres added to the top.

That's Crafty have a theme of 'all about face' and they would like to see a face on a project, so I am entering the middle tag for this challenge.

A Quick Card

It's may dad's 70th on Tuesday and needed a quickie card for him, as we know, male cards are hard at the best of times but as he has no hobbies or fave colours etc, it's even worse, hence the plain and simple.

Quickie Male Card

Martin decided last night he needed a birthday card for his brother in law, so here it is. I'm also entering into this weeks That's Crafty challenge which has a theme of keep it simple.

Gelli Plate and Ink Pads

When we went to Port Sunny Tracey from Lavinia stamps was demo-ing a gelli plate and using ink pads as her medium, as opposed to the traditional acrylic paints. You can actually see what she did at the show on her video here. I used Adirondak to brayer on the background, but only have a black versa fine pad, so instead used Stazon. As you can see, it didn't work, it left white spaces. Oh and the image fell off my acrylic block too!!!

So I tried again, but this time used distress inks to stamp the images onto the gelli plate and as you can see, this worked much better, at least the colour came through this time.

As I didn't know if it would work or not I didn't take too much care to make sure it filled the whole page, so I brayered across the top and edged with walnut stain distress ink and coloured the main LP PA image with distress ink markers. I think it needs some more black on it to balance it out so I may add some random script or I may cut up a quote and add it.

Pan Pastel Backgrounds

More pan pastels with stencils and versa mark ink. Again this background was created just using the one colour.

Then I added some stamping in black archival. The main image, grungy silhouette is by Dina Wakley.

I used a mix of magenta, blue and purple for this background, but I put way too much purple on and it was really dark, so out came my new toy, the translucent blender and wow I was impressed, it really toned down the colour as you can see. Hearts are from a Dina Wakley set and grunge circles are by Hero Arts. The dots are sequin waste.

Then I simply added lonely girl, another stamp by Dina Wakley, in black versa fine ink.

I used the bamboo stencil on this background along with red, orange and yellow pan pastels.

I stamped the images in black versa fine, the main image is from a LP PA plate and the top two are my new wooden stamps picked up for half price at Port Sunny at the weekend.

Playing with Pan Pastels, Stamps & Stencils

Had a play with my new arch stencil which I picked up at Port Sunny at the weekend and also part of the one that Helen kindly bought for me at Ally Pally.  I used yellow ochre all over and dabbled with a bit of brown at the bottom.

Next I added some stamping in timber brown. Along the bottom I used the fab TH stamp that Lesley bought for me, the row of birds from the creative muse set and the background hash stamp is from Hero Arts. But I thought it needed a something else, so.....

So I went back in with a black smudgy pencil and outlined some of the arch stencil and added black paint to the edges.

Pamphlet Journals

I finally found some more waxed thread in town today, so was able to finish my books.  These two are A5 size.

Two more A5 sized journals and this time I did a 5 hole signature, finished the threads at the top and added some beads.

These are smaller books and again I finished the threads at the top and added beads.

And three more of the smaller ones with beads.

And this is them all stood up so you can see the beaded signatures.

All going on my table at the Christmas fair.

Deli Paper Prints

Darcy very kindly sent me some USA large sheets of deli paper. It'd been wanting some for ages to try out something that Patti Tolley Parrish did a few months ago on a UStream which you can see here.

I stamped onto them, this one is white and gold circles.

There is a shimmer in the Pebeo paints, but I'm not sure if you can see it here.

More white and gold circles or parts of.

Again with a shimmer in the background paint.

This one had gold and silver printed images.

Silver and white stamped images by Ellen Vargo and N Studio Stampendous.

Now you can see the shimmer in the pained background on this one, it's just how the light's caught it.

And finally I stamped in black paint using images from Hero Arts grunge and graffiti sets and a couple more odds ones.

Haven't decided what to do with them next, but when I do, I'll let you know!!!

Brushos and Bleach Stamping

Was playing around with Brusho again but not that keen on what I did, this was about the best one using turquoise and orange which also created a bit of a green where they met.

Then I had a bit of a happy accident. I stamped in bleach, but I had a bit too much fluid on the stamp and instead of it leaving fine petal lines, it took everything away just leaving an outside edge. So I over stamped in versa fine black. Quite pleased with how it's turned out.

Again, not another one I was wild about, using purple and lemon.

And again I had way too much bleach on the dragonfly stamp, so all I was left with was the white space. As you can see, I didn't quite get it lined up, but it looks okay. I had better luck with the flower head, but it was a much smaller stamp.

This one wasn't too bad once I came back to it this morning and it had dried properly.

Hero Arts flower stem stamped in bleach. As you can see too much fluid again on the right one, but there is some definition in the other two, so getting better with practice.

Imagination is Boundless

Over at Country View Crafts challenge this month Alison has chosen the theme of 'word play'. The background of the tag is a mix of picked raspberry, salty ocean, seedless preserve and pewter distress stains. Words from a TH stamp plate, hearts Dina Wakley and Hero Arts.

It's a Small World

Over at ABAC they have a mini spotlight challenge of it's a small world. My box is 2" square and the panels measure 1 & 3/4".

I coloured the box in red and the panels in orange.  I wanted to keep it fairly plain with the squares being so small.

So I used oriental symbols on each of the sides.

And a PaperArtsy wooden stamp symbol for the top. Finally I edged the sides in black.

Masterboard

Brayered various colours of fresco paint onto white card. Stamped the sketcy circle from EV set in pumpkin and the leaf shape in mustard. Stenciled TH arrows in south pacific, added snowflake to town them down.

Hero Arts images randomly stamped in black archival. Magenta paint added using bottle tops. White posca pen doodling.

Splats of white Dylusions paint flicked all over.

Close up of the splats.

And another one.

I will eventually cut them up and use them as backgrounds.
