Brushos, Bondaweb & Vilene

Having an odd piece of vilene, I decided to test it with brusho and this is the result.

As you can see from the right one, I tried to stamp with bleach but nothing really happened, so I decided to go with a couple of solid stamps but detailed ones still stamped well on it too.

Right is the vilene with an iron on lining and left is the result of pressing on top after the brusho has been added.

Again the ink really sunk into the material (now switched to the left side) and right, hexagons stamped in bleach to remove the colour.

Fabric Postcard Swap

I have signed up for a 1 x 1 fabric postcard swap on one of the yahoo groups I've recently joined.  You swap directly with your allocated partner.  As I'm quite new, I don't know my swapee so I hope they like it.  The image is coated in ice resin and mounted onto a piece of felt.  The left hand side has been filled with beads, buttons, threads, ribbons, fibres and sequins.  Tulle has been covered over the top and it has been machine stitched to capture the pieces and keep them in place.  The organza on the right has been subjected to the heat tool and some of the felt has been singed. A piece of ribbon was added to the left and a string of beads to the right.

Postcards with Stitches

I stitched this piece of hand dyed vilene which I'd previously burnt into with my textile tool and a brass stencil.  I used straight stitch first and went over it with a tight zig zag.  I left the threads long in the bottom right hand corner so that I could add some beads and sequins.  Thanks once again to Jo for this fab tip, hope I've done it ok Jo!!!!!

Again this piece of canvas is another that I'd already prepared.  I stitched it on with straight stitch going round it twice.  I added the piece of fibre down the side using a large zig zag stitch.  I was quite pleased with how this bit turned out as I've not done it before and didn't know if it would work or not. I usually stick them on first.  Again I left the bottom piece quite long to attach some wooden beads.

*****Edited***** I've entered this piece into this weeks Tuesday Taggers Challenge which is Canvas.  It is being sponsored by Art from the Heart.  Good luck everyone.

This piece is made from Angelina fibres with feathers, a skeleton leaf and wool fibres trapped between two layers.  I secured it around the edges using straight then tight zig zag stitch and randomly used a straight stitch to secure it further.  I used metaillic thread for the first time too.

All the backgrounds were brayered with ink from the big n juicy waterfall pad by Ranger.

Vilene Etching

I'd already dyed a piece of vilene interfacing with various colours of distressed re-inkers.  I low tack taped a brass stencil to the piece above and using my heat textile tool melted away the sections.

Here I've just put it behind a piece of coloured card so you can see the effect better.
