Slate Dragon Plaque

I turned the above Merry Christmas slate plaque into the background as seen below using a stencil, modelling paste and acrylic paints.

Then I started to lay out some resin pieces, I was trying to create a mystical vibe.

Chose corresponding metallic pigments and paints to colour the resin and metal pieces with.

And here it is finished, looking good hanging on the wall.

This is for sale on my Website and FB Page.

Nail Head

Decided to have a play with clay and stoneart.

Oh and a few rusty nails.

The majority is made up from 2 and a half polystyrene ball.  But I forgot to take a photo of it.

Love how the bister looks on the stoneart.

A view of the nails from the top of the head.

The nails were rusty, but I painted them silver.

Another shot of the black bister.

I had a go at sculpting a sort of face, don't think I did too bad for a first attempt.

I really wanted to have a go a clay sculpting but haven't been able to find anyone, then last week I found someone local and this week we get locked down!!!  Never mind, at least it's something to look forward to.

Broken

Powertexed a block of polystyrene and cut out some arm holes.

I painted the hair and then used transparent powertex to stick it onto the head.

A view of the hair from the back.

And from the front mounted on a piece of slate.

Two Aged Cherubs

Not having much luck with the bone effect technique. I think it looks more like stone than bone!  I did use StoneArt on the piece of polystyrene that they are sitting on, but didn't quite get the bone effect on the cherubs.

Skull Stacker

Three plaster skulls painted with a mix of black and white powertex to make a grey.  Then stacked on top of each other and once dry coloured with silver pigment and varnish.  Finished off with gems in the eye sockets.

Twig Basket Table Decoration

I blew up a balloon and covered it in cling film before I started dipping twigs into powertex and placing them on the balloon.

I completed it in stages until I was happy with the way it formed.

I left it about 3 days to dry solid before I deflated the balloon.

I coloured it with red and gold pigments.

I picked up this small bag of pot pourri just because of the colours.

I also used a kitchen roll tube to create a cup in the bottom to hold a led waxed candle and added half of the bag of potpourri.

And here it is in the semi dark with the candle turned on.

And finally in full darkness with the candle on.

Nefertiti Figure

It's been ages and ages since I made a powertex figure, so I decided to have a go to see if I could still do it.  Something a little bit different though.

I did this one slightly different, as I added pigment to the powertex just after I'd added the fabrics, so it was still very wet when I applied it. Used a very small brush to paint the details in rich gold pigment and varnish.

Slightly turned to the right.

Slightly turned to the left.

And finally from the front.

Angel #3

This one is slightly smaller at around 18" and I made it for my sister.

I love how the colours on the wings came out.

Close up of the right wing, teal, patina, turquoise and gold.

Close up of the left wing using the same colours.

I used cotton scrim for the top layer this time.

It wrapped around the under layer and the base perfectly.

From the back, loving those 'crazy' dangles.

Wings from the back, again loving the colours.

The hair was again created using a mix of powertex and 3d flex.

And here are all three together for a short time until they go to their new homes.

Angel #2

After making an angel at the workshop last weekend with Allison, I wanted to make another for my mum. Wings being attached to the body. I used a £1 doll bust as opposed to the £9 plaster ones we used at the workshop.

Cut some fabric for the 'crazy' wings.

Covered the wings, the base layer and the draped layer in bronze Powertex.

I cut the hair off the dolls head but wanted to give her some different hair, so mixed bronze powertex with 3d flex to a consistency so that I could pipe it on. I covered the head in cling film just in case it didn't work, and I could still rescue the head.

But it did work, and this is what it looked like when dry!

Put the hair on the head and Powertexed them both.

Head back on and coloured with patina, teal and gold metallic paints.

Top half, wings and head.

Close up of front right wing.

Wings and head from the back.

I think this one shows up the metallic colours more.

View of face and hair from the side.

And finally in amongst the flowers.

Again, she's not staying in the garden, she's going to mums, if she likes her.
