Day 27 Tags

I used acrylic paints and oxides to create the backgrounds.

I used a mix of modeling paste, textured sand paste and crackle paint.

I used distress stickles on the hat and the eyes.

A brad for the eye and the tash.

Textured sand paste through a cogs stencil.

A gem crystal for the eye and another brad for the tash.

Dragonfly Tag - Day 6

I used these three colours of paint to create this tag.

I then stamped some shapes in the orange and teal using a bottle lid and an old store card.

Next I used white gesso to stamp with.

I added silver stickles to a die cut shape.

And I added black stickles to a wooden ruler.

More stickles.

The finished tag.

And then I hung it in the shrubs.

Silks & Primary Elements

I've been creating backgrounds using my silks and primary elements mixed with PA satin glaze. I sponged carmen silks through a TH honeycomb stencil and once dry coloured the tag with ginger peach silks. I mixed up the chestnut brown primary elements with satin glaze and used cut n dry through a new stencil.

I painted one of the embossed dragonflies that Emma kindly cut and embossed for us and gave us at the weekend, so I thought I ought to use one!! It's painted with satin glaze mixed with true blue, royal orchid and moss agate and teal zircon silks for the body.

I added some platinum distress stickles and some treasure gold to the dragonfly. Added some mini script and splats to the tag in red and brown stazon, some tissue tape, idea-o-logy gears etc.

And then I did another one using the ice silk as a resist through the honeycomb stencil and coloured with ginger peach silks which is very translucent.

The dragonfly was coloured with a mix of deep coral and satin glaze PE, and the boysenberry and teal zircon silks. I used about 3 different colours of treasure gold on the embossed parts and spiced marmalade distress stickles.

This is a close up of the ice silk acting as a resist, coloured over with the ginger peach and stencilled with chestnut brown and again some stamping.

Country View Crafts have a challenge theme of Sparkle and Shine and it's just a pity you can't see from the photos the lovely glimmer and shine that these products produce.

Christmas Decs

I found myself confined to the dining room for over 2 hours today whilst we had a Tivo box installed, as I had to keep Fraz out the way. It was only supposed to be a matter of changing the boxes over, but it didn't go well. So with that in mind I decided to make something.  I flattened 3 bottle tops in my Big Shot, die cut some snowflakes in patterned paper and began to assemble. Now this is as much bling as you'll see me use, some distress stickles which I found whilst looking for the liquid leaf. Thought they would make nice tree decs.

Whilst rummaging I also found a blank slideshow slide minus the film. I painted it with white fire liquid leaf. Cut out an image from a Crafty Individuals Christmas book of images and also a piece of acetate the same size. Stamped the Merry Christmas and double mounted it. Added a few stars which cut out with the snowflakes above to try and hide where the name is stamped into the slide, sandwiched a piece of ribbon between the frame and the backing piece.

And finally a piece of 2" x 2" stampbord coloured with iced spruce distress ink. Again used an image from the same Crafty Individuals book.  Stamped the sentiment and the stars and used the scrapy tool to etch into the stampbord.

Over at the Arty Inklings blog there is crimble challenge and you can submit anything with a Christmas theme, but it has to have stamping on it, so I'm entering again.

Just One Colour - AJ

Over at Art Journey this month they are asking for 'just one colour' to be used in our creations.  So I challenged myself to use blues.  I used denim, faded jeans and broken china distress stains for the background.  I used Stazon Hydrangea blue for their trousers, Adirondack Denim for their shirts and Salty Ocean Distress Ink for their heads!!!

Then I decided to try orange.  I used Dylusion ink sprays, squeezed orange and orange with a splash of mica which is one from the pre-Ranger Dylusion set.  I used a mixture of spiced marmalade and dried marigold distress inks for the middle of the main image.  I went around the outside frame with Stazon pumpkin.  Once stamped I added orange distress stickles to further outline the frame.

Then of course I had to try a green one.  The background is a mixture of shabby shutters, peeled paint, crushed olive and bundled sage distress stains.  The main image is stamped in meadow Adirondack ink.

A Bit of Bling

This week over at Simon Says Stamp and Show they are asking for a bit of sparkle.  Well for those of you that know me, you'll know by now I don't do sparkle.  I coloured this tag with wild honey and tarnished brass distress stains.  I stamped the Stampotique bees in black stazon.

I gave the whole tag a coat of distress rock candy stickles.  I've just bought the new style one from Oyster Stamps.  It's in a pot with a brush like the crackle paints.  It's much easier to apply than using the smaller bottles with the nozzle.

So this is my bit of bling!!!

It's all about the Squares

Over at Stampotique this week Val is asking for squares.  I masked off a buff coloured tag and painted green lines over the uncovered areas.  I've never used Claudine Hellmuth studio paint before but it really is nice.  I picked up the landscape green out the half price basket at AftH.  I stamped my new Stampotique 'oh tree' stamp in black Stazon.  I stamped the row of faces, cut them out and hung them on the tree.

I added a bit of red pepper and a coating of rock candy distress stickles.

Tattered Flower Autumn Tag

Simon Says Stamp challenge this week want to see our embossing, so I just had to get out my new Ranger sticky embossing powder which I used with my new purchase of guilding flakes from Joanna Sheen.  I used my new T!m blueprint stamp plate which I picked up at the Manchester show to stamp the mini leaves in versamark.  The background is the new metallic antiqued brass distress stain mixed with wild honey.

The tattered flowers I'd previously prepared.  I gave them a  splash of rock candy stickles and glossy accents!!

Autumn Tag

I'm entering my tag into two challenges this week.  PanPastelUK are asking for autumn/fall, so I've chosen to use the autumn colours and Simon Says Stamp are wanting to see hexagons, chevrons or neon, so I've used hexagons.

The background is antiqued bronze, mustard seed and wild honey distressed stain.  The shimmer is from the antiqued bronze metallic stain.  I stamped the Stampotique images in perfect medium and coloured them with orange extra dark (280.1) pan pastel.  I used the Crafters Workshop hexagon stencil with red iron oxide extra dark (380.1) pan pastel around the edges.  I used my new rock candy stickles to brush over the dragonfly and bottom left corner and added 3 pearls to the right.  I added an autumn array of fibres to finish.

Magical and Mystical

Ermmmm.....not entirely sure I've totally hit the spot with this theme.  For those of you that know me, you'll know I don't have any fairies, castles and mystical types of stamps in my collection, so I've done the best I could with what I've got!!!

This week the PanPastels UK team are asking for 'magical and mystical'.

I stamped the CI-137 image, a flourish and the word dream in black stazon.  I coloured the background with a combination of violet tint (470.8) and turquoise tint (580.8) pan pastels.  I coloured the main image with magenta (430.5) and the flowers with violet shade (470.3) and phthalo blue (560.5) pan pastels.  The yellow flowers and the lilac swirl down the left I coloured with Artbars.  I used the pastel Artbars to outline some of the flourishes and over write the word, dream.  To try and make it more magical, I added turquoise and purple Stickles to the flower inners, the dots around the dream and the wings.  I added wool fibres to finish.

Then I decided to see what I could do using Titus from Stampotique.    So I made this ATC incorporating the mushroom stamp from Lavinia and the swirl stamp also from Stampotique.  I used magenta (430.5) and bright yellow green shade (680.3) pan pastels on the background and purple and lime green Stickles for the sparkle of magic - lol!!!!

Scrapbook Page

I recently received an email inviting me to order 50 free photo prints (99p p&p), so I took them up on the offer.  This is one of the pages that I did of Fraz last year in the woods.  Those of you who know me, know I go for simple layouts and not much fuss as I like the photo to be seen and not distracted by lots of embellies and frills.  Anyhow, I decided to add a random 'pink' and black flower that I'd previously made, and I love how the page has come out.

This weeks Pan Pastels challenge is to 'add a flower' so I am entering my page of Fraz into this weeks challenge.  Hope over and give it a go, you don't have to use pan pastels on your entry.

A Couple More Tags

Yes Kate, I know, it's pink!!!  I coloured the fabric flowers and strips of fabric with spun sugar distress stain.  The lace is coloured with vintage photo distress stain.  I added the skeleton leaf and the stapled tassel along with the image to the embossed tag.

Another tag made from the backgrounds created on the previous post.  Again I made the flower and added a couple of pieces of distress stained lace and fabric strips.

A Couple of Tags

Well I'm now able to weight bear and have become sturdier on my crutches so I've been able to do a bit of arting, although it's taken a while as getting about is still so exhausting.

I saturated different colours of spray inks onto varying pieces of card and covered them with scrunched cling film.  Once they had dried I removed the cling film.  I cut tag shapes from the card pieces and then ran them through embossing folders with the big shot.

I made the purple flower from mulberry paper and coloured the row of fabric roses with dusty concord and crushed olive distress stains.  I also stained strips of fabric to create the ribbons for the tops of the tags.

Day 9, Tag #9

Hmmmm....tag 9, not overly impressed with this one either, but .... I loved Ted's attempt, so decided to go along those lines instead.  And OMG, how much bling.  For those that don't know, I don't do bling, but this tag was just crying out for it.

The Craft Room Challenge - 1

Zoe has teamed up with Julia from The Craft Room and set up a challenge blog.  They've been gentle on us with it being the first week, they've kicked off with a free theme.  The challenges run for two weeks, so still plenty of time to get your entry in.  It's well worth entering as there is a £10 voucher to the winner of the random draw to spend in the on-line shop.  Be sure to read the pesky rules though, as you need to display the logo and create a link back to your blog and the like in order to qualify.

Right to my piece then.  I die cut the wings, cogs, clock hands and circles.  Stamped, heat embossed, big shot embossed and painted the pieces.  Once assembled I added eyelets and hung the stamped image with a couple of pieces of chain.

Freestyle Tri-Colour Competition

The Craft Room are sponsors of UKStampers and are running a little competition.  You have to use three colours, two shades of green and a blue.  For the above set I used alcohol inks, sail boat blue, citrus and lettuce, although the middle one looks more yellow, I used the same piece of felt for all the backgrounds.

For the tag I used distress stains, forest moss, peeled paint and faded jeans for the background.  Images stamped in stazon, hydrangea blue and olive green.

And lastly I used acrylic dabbers again in sail boat blue, lettuce and citrus.  I stamped the image in olive and used the hydrangea around the edges.  I used peeled paint stickles for the blobs on the crown.

So now I just have to decide which piece to enter!!!!

JFF - Week 10 - Circle(s)

It's Vons turn to choose this months JFF theme and she has chosen 'shapes' with the first one being 'circles'.  I covered an old cd with small pieces of lasagne and then painted with gesso.  I applied another layer of lasagne and then another layer of gesso.  Once dry, I painted with mushroom acrylic dabbers.  When dry, I rubber across it with my finger using gold to get a contrast.  The image is from one of the CI books.  The outside of the inner circle is covered in rock candy distressed stickles.  I put brads in the metal plate which says cherish and attached with silicone glue!!!

The other side is backed with a piece of background card that I'd previously made.  Ribbon and fibres were added underneath the backing.

Birthday Card

It's my mums birthday in May so I set about making her a card using the scrunched flowers idea which Kate recently used on her mothers day card.  The colours don't look so faded IRL but it's so hard to get a decent photo!!!  I used spun sugar distress stain around the edges.  The flowers and leaves are sizzix die cuts stamped with timber brown stazon using the scratches background stamp.  They are coloured with spun sugar and walnut stain stains. For the leaves I used forest moss and peeled paint stains.

There is quite a lot of depth to this card as the flower sizes sit inside each other but from the first photo it looks quite flat.

I added a sentiment and some pearlised gems.

Thanks Kate xxx

Three's

This months UKStampers ATC theme is 'three of a kind'.  The idea is to use three identical things on each ATC.  Left I have three purple diamonds with a square bead embedded in each.  Centre, I have three pink hearts and right I have three purple beads embedded into the squares of friendly plastic.
