Summer of Colour - Week One

Over at Twinkle, Twinkle Like a Star blog a new colour challenge has been set. There are two main colours and then a third which is meant to be a smudge, splash or pop. So the turquoise and yellow are the main colours with the hot pink, yes I did say pink, being a pop.

I had soooo many ideas running through my head, so firstly I decided on an ATB.

I coloured the box turquoise, and the panels yellow.

I stamped the LP images in black archival.

And finally added a touch of hot pink to each of the panels, but because it's over yellow paint, it looks more red than pink!!

I also wanted to use one of my new stencils. The background is brayered with turquoise and yellow paint and due to the over lapping some areas have gone green! The butterflies are stencilled through with magenta pan pastel and I added a mini peg to the body of the middle one. Ribbon is coloured with distress stains.

Same brayering technique except I started with a kraft tag which is why the yellow looks much darker. Stencilled the heart with magenta paint. Stamped the Dina Wakley collaged hearts onto a separate piece of card and cut them out. Dream is a new (to me) Clarity stamp from the word chain 5 set.

And lastly I created a master board as I wanted to use my new Hero Arts stamps.

I am sorry that it's such a long post, but you are only allowed one link up to the challenge.

A Bright & Cheery Tag

I wanted to make this tag bright and cheery as it's for a twitter pal who's just come out of hospital after having an op.

Stampotique have a theme of 'tag, you're it' this week and Dragons Dream TIO have a recipe of paint, ribbon and a stencil, oh and don't forget, at least one real stamp.

Mdf tag was initially primed with snowflake fresco paint and then coloured with limelight and zesty zing.  The diamond stencil was used with beach hut.

Image stamped with black stazon, coloured with pens, masked off and stamped the background using my Traci Bautista stamp in lots of different colours of distress inks, picked raspberry, salty ocean, mowed lawn, rusty hinge, peacock feathers and probably some others.

I used my white posca pen to doodle on the background and the black for the edges and to outline the main image.

The sentiment is a Hero Arts stamp.

Busy Bee

Over at Stampotique this week they are asking for some transparency!!  Hmmm....so what to do then??

Also over at Anything But A Card this week they are asking for us to dust off our old supplies???

So I came up with this to combine the two challenges.  Acetate, stamps and paint I've used recently, but I haven't used 2" Ranger memory glass and my Sizzix frame die for absolutely yonks.

I painted the chipboard frames in haystack fresco paint as a base layer, then again in zesty zing for a brighter yellow.  I used T!m's hexagon background stamp coz I thought it represented bee hives.  I originally stamped the bee onto the glass, but when I came to colour it in, all the black stazon ink came off.  So I stamped onto a piece of acetate instead and coloured that, but still used the glass, sandwiched it with the acetate inside the chipboard frames and added a piece of fibre so I could hang it.

Simon Says Paint it Up

Simon Says Stamp and Show are asking to see some paint!!  I gesso'd a couple of beer mats and painted them with a few coats of sunset orange Ranger dabber paint and put citrus through some sequin waste.  I stamped Heart Throb onto a separate piece of card and coloured him with Adirondack pens.  I stuck him onto the beer mat, masked him off and stamped the picket fence in black stazon.

Painted in the same way as above, stamped in black stazon the Stampotique row of faces and the swirl stalks.  Head and Titus were stamped onto separate pieces of card, coloured and cut out.  Titus was stamped onto the background for his arms, legs and hair and his cut out body was matched up!!

Two more

I used A6 as opposed to square cards for these two.  The purple and pink Moth Fab was coloured with OHP and Adirondack pens.   Seedless preserves and picked raspberry were used to colour the panel.  And a piece of ribbon was added to finish.

Rusty hinge and ripe persimmon distress inks used for the panel on this card and Moth Fab was coloured with water colour paints.  Again I added a piece of ribbon I picked up from the Doncaster Race Course show here.

Again no sentiments, waiting for the right occasion!!

More Tags .... sorry!!!!

I do apologise as I know you are all probably bored of my kraft card, pan pastels and Artbars but unfortunately (for you), I'm getting sooo much enjoyment out of making them, that I've made some more and these Stampotique stamps lend themselves so well too.

These were created on black card using pan pastels, white (100.5), neutral grey tint (820.8) bright yellow green (680.5) and magenta (430.5). The background, fence and words were stamped with picket fence distress stain using Stampotique stamps moth fab, winter, goddess, even silence speaks, hanging hearts and picket fence.  The character images were coloured with various pens and pan pastels.

All the tags were run through the distrezz-it-all tool to give them distressed and rugged edges.

Magical and Mystical

Ermmmm.....not entirely sure I've totally hit the spot with this theme.  For those of you that know me, you'll know I don't have any fairies, castles and mystical types of stamps in my collection, so I've done the best I could with what I've got!!!

This week the PanPastels UK team are asking for 'magical and mystical'.

I stamped the CI-137 image, a flourish and the word dream in black stazon.  I coloured the background with a combination of violet tint (470.8) and turquoise tint (580.8) pan pastels.  I coloured the main image with magenta (430.5) and the flowers with violet shade (470.3) and phthalo blue (560.5) pan pastels.  The yellow flowers and the lilac swirl down the left I coloured with Artbars.  I used the pastel Artbars to outline some of the flourishes and over write the word, dream.  To try and make it more magical, I added turquoise and purple Stickles to the flower inners, the dots around the dream and the wings.  I added wool fibres to finish.

Then I decided to see what I could do using Titus from Stampotique.    So I made this ATC incorporating the mushroom stamp from Lavinia and the swirl stamp also from Stampotique.  I used magenta (430.5) and bright yellow green shade (680.3) pan pastels on the background and purple and lime green Stickles for the sparkle of magic - lol!!!!

More Stampotique

Look what came in the post from Happy Daze, more Stampotique to add to my growing collection.  So I just had to have a play with them!!

Background, pan pastels and artbars. Punched the MS picket fence into T!m's retro papers.  Stampotique characters coloured with Adirondack and OHP pens.  Hanging hearts stamped in the background with black stazon.  Stamped the quote, cut it up and 3'd it.  Added fibres to finish.

Background was created using pan pastels and a diamond stencil.  I stamped the Lavinia mushrooms in black stazon using a masking technique.  The scribbles are Dina's boy star stamp and the swirls are from my new stamps above along with Titus.  I stamped Head onto acetate and coloured him in with OHP pens.  I re-stamped Titus on a separate piece of card, coloured and cut his body out and stuck it over the stamped image.  I outlined all the background images with a white pen.  I edged the tag with faded jeans and broken china distress inks and finally added the fibres.

A couple of Tags

The background was created with pan pastel, bright yellow green extra dark (680.1) and Artbars (green earth A49, black A67 and white A72).  The 'goddess' word and hanging hearts Stampotique images were stamped in black stazon and outlined in white pen.  I stamped moth fab onto a separate piece of card and coloured her with Adirondack and OHP pens, cut her out and 3d mounted her onto the tag.  Finished off with my new Basic Grey fibres picked up at the Doncaster show.

More or less the same again except this background was created with juniper, cool peri and cloudy blue acrylic dabbers.  Dina's boy star and Stampotique 'diva' and hanging hearts were stamped over the background in black stazon, the word 'diva' was over stamped in picket fence distress stain.  This time moth fab was coloured with pan pastels, cut out and stuck flush to the tag.

Simon says Stamp and Show have an anything goes this week, so I'm putting my tags up for this challenge!!!

Depths of Distress

Over at Simon Says Stamp and Show they are asking for individuals interpretations of 'depths of distress'.  So for me this meant using my new set of summer distress inks and my fab Stampotique stamps.  I'm really loving these bright colours.

Again I used the summer distress inks but I stamped the circles in Perfect Medium and coloured them with yellow ochre shade (270.3) pan pastel.  I stamped the Stampotique hanging hearts image in festive berries distress ink, the heart throb Stampotique image and the TH quote in black stazon.

A Little Book

Over at Out of a Hat Creations they are asking for a little book.  The actual brief that was plucked out of the hat was a domino book, but as some people don't have any dominoes they just went for a book no larger than 3" square.  Even though I have dominoes I chose not to use them as my Stampotique cutie was too big to fit on in his entirety.

I used the spring, summer and winter distress ink sets to colour a 12" x 2.5" strip of cream card.

I used the Crafter's Workshop stencils mini circle explosion and mini punchinella with phthalo blue (560.5) and violet shade (470.3) pan pastels.

I stamped images in black stazon from various T!m Holtz plates and the Stampotique hanging hearts stamp.

I then creased the 12" strip every 1.5" to create 8 sections.  I concertinaed these up to make the book.

The front and back panel which the character is adhered to was coloured with Artbars.

The Stampotique charatcters were stamped in black stazon on a separate piece of card, coloured with OHP pens, cut out and stuck onto the front and back panel of the book.

Finally I took a white pen and hi-lighted some of the stamped images.

Favourite Things

My three favourite things at the moment are pan pastels, the new summer set of distress inks and Stampotique stamps.  So I made a couple of tags.

The circles were stamped in perfect medium and swooshed over with Phthalo Blue (560.5) pan pastel.  The background was created by applying inks to a craft mat and spritzing with water.  They lost their vividness with this method!!!

Inks were applied directly to the tag, the faded rays stamped in perfect medium and swooshed over with black (800.5) pan pastel, images stamped in black stazon.

Shrink Plastic

Well, would you believe that I've never ever used shrink plastic before!!!!  I've got loads but just never got round to using it!!!  Well today all that changed.  But I was totally blown away by just how much it shrinked!!!  This was the original size of the stamp, now look at it!!!!

And again this Crafty Individuals stamp, amazing how much it's shrunk too, but even more amazing that it's all kept it's proportions and you can still read all the words clearly.

And finally, here is my 'little' collection.
