Christmas Wreath with a Twist

I picked up the mdf ring and Merry Christmas sign at Donny Dome in October.

I covered the ring with t-shirt fabric soaked in bronze Powertex and once dry started to place some embellishments.

I used gesso on the words.

I decided to use a mix of natural elements and resin shapes.

The words looked too plain so I added some more resins.

I waxed the ring with gold, waxed the resin pieces in silver and added some touches of red.

Added 3 trees along the bottom.

Close up of the words.

Close up of the trees.

Close up of the resin and woodland pieces.

More close ups.

And the opposite side of the wreath.

Loving the resin elements.

This is for sale in my online shop if you are interested

along with lots of other items.

Putting the tree up - 20/12/2021

What's happening now mum?

Hmmmm.......

Very tasty.

But this piece is even better.

Awww dad.

Okay then, I'll start on this piece instead.

Just checking out the other side dad.

I left Martin to trim it whilst I was otherwise engaged! Don't think he did too bad a job.

Then Boo went to inspect his handy work.

Then he decided that everything of his needed to be closer to the tree.

Then he decided enough was enough and crashed out.

StoneArt Tree

After watching day 5 of Ashley Hay's Creative Christmas Challenge videos I decided to have a go at making a tree but I didn't have a cone shape for the base, so instead I wrapped cardboard around a bottle.

Once dry, I took the bottle out of the cardboard and was left with a cone shape.  I mixed up stoneart and powertex to make a clay, rolled it out very very thinly and then tore it and powertexed it on the cone.

I did it in layers starting from the bottom upwards.

And here it is totally covered in the clay.

Once dry, I started to apply colour.

Once I was happy with the colour I gave it all a coat of varnish and then about 2 hours later a coat of transparent powertex.

Just love the ruffles of the torn clay mix.

Yesterday we put the tree up and it smells lovely.

Look who turned up in the tree this morning, a little Christmas pixie.
