Update on Large Fairy Figure

Still no hair, but I've found something to sit her on, a ceramic pot that Lin gave me a while ago.

Using black powertex covered in t-shirt fabric and some lace and added in some clay flowers. Left in airing cupboard overnight to dry.

Used white, rich gold and bronze gold pigments to colour.

And a view from the other side.

And this is what she is going to look like when she's sat on her new seat. Just need to sort the hair and she'll be finished.

Pen / Brush Pot

A while ago I decorated a ceramic plate and Lesley asked if she could have a matching mug, and although I do have a mug, I decided to make her one using a fancy pot because they are not safe to drink out of as they've not been thrown back in the kiln and glazed. So again, I painted the pot in deep scarlet from the DecoArt multi surface satin range.

So to add the splats, I turned it upside down, covered the bottom and literally threw the black carbon acrylic from the media range at it.

I also used a pallet knife to create some of the lines.

And finally I gave it a couple of coats of DecoArt satin varnish.

I think it looks a bit oriental, I hope she likes it and will use it for her pens and/or brushes.

Splattered Ceramic Plate

Lin kindly gave me a few bits of ceramic to play with. I decided to use the smallest and simplest shape to start with, as I didn't really know what I was doing!!

Having read the back of the DecoArt multi surface paints, ceramics are mentioned, so I took out the dark scarlet and gave the plate a couple of coats.

I then took it out in the garden and literally threw carbon black media paint at it directly from the bottle. I used a pallet knife to smudge some of the spoldges.

I wanted to give it a coat of gloss glaze, but for some reason I don't appear to have any gloss.

Therefore, I put on two coats of satin varnish instead.
