Zombie Brains

I started with a mop up page in my journal, it's sort of dark blue and black and I stamped a border of skulls around each edge in black stazon.

I used bubble wrap and added some more circles using a bottle lid and black paint. I faintly stamped some spiders and some webs. I also stamped the quote but it didn't show up, so went over it with pen. The images are stamps from VLV but I photociped them and blew them up to make them bigger. They are coloured with distress ink markers and PA mini script stamped over the tombstones. 

I am entering into the PA challenge which this week has a theme of circles.

Spread your Wings

And for the final piece of corrugated I used English red oxide antiquing cream, a wooden frame which I coloured with a mix of chalky paints to get the purple and a bit of stamping on it with black stazon, the butterfly is from a Finn set and coloured with distress markers. The inside of the niche has a domed embellishment which I made a good while ago when I had my melt pot out! I painted the wooden cogs and stamped script over them.

Steampunk Surprise

This was one of the first pages I started in my journal as I had excess modelling paste so just put it through a stencil and then as I had spare paint etc, I just kept adding it to this page and finally got to this stage.

I stamped random cogs in timber brown stazon and coloured the image with distress ink markers. 

I blended the image into the page with a brown gelato.

I hi-lighted the stencilled texture with turquoise metalic lustre.

Finally I added silver metallic lustre to hi-light the textures on the page.

That's Crafty have a theme of steampunk surprise so I am entering my page.

Pink & Black Atc's

We were challenged by Emma to make 2 atc's using just two colours. I was ribbed and ribbed about using pink, so I bit the bullet and went for pink and black. I also wanted to use some of my new to me stamps.

Purple, Pink & Black

Last night Lin sent me a video by France Papillon as she'd incorporated pan pastels, silks and primary elements into a journal page which you can see here. Now you know I don't do journals so I started with an 8" x 8" piece of white card and pretty much followed what she did.

Loved the drippage from the primary elements.

Stampotique have a theme this week of purple, pink and black, hence the colour scheme. I added a couple of the lattice die cuts, an arch and the two Stampotique characters which I coloured with distress markers.

Gelli Plate and Ink Pads

When we went to Port Sunny Tracey from Lavinia stamps was demo-ing a gelli plate and using ink pads as her medium, as opposed to the traditional acrylic paints. You can actually see what she did at the show on her video here. I used Adirondak to brayer on the background, but only have a black versa fine pad, so instead used Stazon. As you can see, it didn't work, it left white spaces. Oh and the image fell off my acrylic block too!!!

So I tried again, but this time used distress inks to stamp the images onto the gelli plate and as you can see, this worked much better, at least the colour came through this time.

As I didn't know if it would work or not I didn't take too much care to make sure it filled the whole page, so I brayered across the top and edged with walnut stain distress ink and coloured the main LP PA image with distress ink markers. I think it needs some more black on it to balance it out so I may add some random script or I may cut up a quote and add it.

Double Arches

Over at Artful Times this week we have a theme of 'arches'. I decided on a double arch, patterned paper and my lovely LP stamp of the butterfly lady, which I stamped onto script tissue paper. Several colour washes of fresco seaweed and chartreuse.

I just covered the back in a piece of script paper.

And the lovely Hazel kindly sent me a pad of totally indestructible paper, so I added a couple of words and sent this off to her.

Mini Book

Over at Artful Times we are asking to see your mini books and I mean mini, measuring at largest 2" x 3", which is what mine is. I used a JoFY stamp with distress in markers for the front and decorated with a piece of burlap and a button.

And for the back I used distress ink markers too with a TH butterfly stamp and sorry, have no idea who the word is made by.

For the inside pages I used various handmade papers.

PA Linda Cain

Just a quickie from me for this weeks PA blog as I'm going away for the weekend. Linda Cain was back with a journal page which you can see here. I pretty much did what she did but used different stamps. Background colours are nougat, Spanish mulberry and chartreuse. Stamped in snowflake, seaweed and tinned peas.

Pen & Ink Tag

Over on the PA blog, Kate is back with a journal page. As you all know by now, I don't do journal pages, so I used some of the techniques on a tag.

Graffiti Shrine

Over on the PA blog this week my lovely friend Kirsten was a Guest Designer and bless her, she wanted to do a runner from Twitter around the launch time, but she made a beautiful butterfly shrine which you can see here.

I used the negative from a TH die (postage stamp), the die cut shapes from one of the TH frameworks dies that Lin kindly sent to me and housed my fave LP image in the space. GP and diamond stencil along with treasure gold and script stamping over the frame.

Leporella Accordion Book

Over on the PA Blog Liesbeth is back for her second project which you can see here. I pretty much followed her techniques. I went with greens and a crackle stencil for the covers.

Then I added French roast and lots of different colours of treasure gold, olive bronze, aquamarine, indigo and renaissance.

I used the same colours of distress ink for the inside pages.

Added various LP images.

Used a posca pen to hi-light areas. I did try the bleach on the spare side piece, but as you can see, it had no effect.

I still felt the pages needed a little more

So I added script in black stazon

And a LP stamp as a border in timber brown stazon.

Here are all the finished pages joined together before I attached the covers.

And finally the finished book complete with sari ribbon.

I'm also entering into the That's Crafty challenge this week as they are asking to see texture paste in the project.

Over at A Vintage Journey, they would also like to see some texture.

Remember the Now

Over on the PA blog this week Helen M created a journal page using grunge paste and tissue paper which you can see here. I did up to this bit on a wooden mdf plaque, but then Helen's turned decidedly pink, so I went my own way with it.

Painted with chartreuse and then dusty teal, edged with pea coat and then using very little paint on my finger I rubbed over the grunge paste which I'd stamped into and the crumpled tissue paper.

Then I stamped the LP main image onto the background and onto a piece of hammered white card. Cut out and coloured with distress ink markers. PA mini flourishes, alphabet and script stamped randomly in black and olive green stazon.

Water Colouring and Embossing - Day 3

So one of the day 3 techniques was, I think, to stamp an embossed image and then colour it in with distress inks and / or markers to create the water colour effect.

I stamped the dragonfly image in blue, black and red wow powder and coloured the image with distress ink markers using a water colour brush. For the tops and bottoms of each tag I coloured them with distress inks and stamped random images.

One of the techniques on the second day (well 3rd really as you get given a day to play catch up) was water colour stamping. For this tag I used distress inks spritzed with water. 

And for this one I used distress markers and again spritzed with water.
