Had a play with some Teesha images, magazine pages, Tim Holtz dolls and some patterned papers.

Prompt - Masterboard 'RRR'

The weekly prompt for this month in one of the groups I've joined is RRR, Recycle, Repurpose and Reuse and for the first week we are prompted to make a masterboard.

For the first one I used random pieces from pages out of this magazine.

I didn't do too much in the way of planning as when it's cut up, it will look completely different.

And for the second one I used household objects as above.

And this is how it ended up.

Ready and waiting for next weeks prompt now.

Triple Pocket Holders

Had another dabble with some magazine papers and used scraps of card, paper, lace, ribbon and washi tape to decorate them.

Tag,Ticket & Labels Booklets & Spool

Created some booklets from magazine pages, decorated them with leftovers and added tags, tickets and labels.

The spool at the top has been created by machine sewing all the pieces together.  I also went back in and added some fibres.  It's a mixture of paper, card and fabric scraps.

Face Your Fears

Using the fabulous ARTZONE stencils designed by Deb Wainwright I created this piece. The background has been coloured with red, orange and yellow Decoart premium acrylics applied with a babywipe. I used carbon black through the heiroglyphics stencils. I wanted to show that you don't have to use it with an egyptian theme for it to work. Hence the Teesha Moore image and the words.

All the stencils (and more) can be found in Debs online shop here. If you get chance, please pay a visit. They retail at £5.75 and are excellent value. They are made from a very robust material and because of this they are very to use and also easy to clean. They are also very versatile as they can be used either way, which you will see in my next post.

Junk Journal

Front cover of a junk journal that I've made. The hard back book cover is covered in fabrics and stamped images.

Some of the recycled envelopes have windows which is quite useful.

Strips of fabric have been sewn down the edges of some pages.

Some of the pages are from magazines.

Map pages have also been included in the journal.

Fabric stamped images are also incorporated on some pages.

Some images were stamped on magazine papers and cut out.

Little Leather Eye Books

I made some little spooky / scary eye books with a leather cover.

They are rubbed with black stazon to create a worn look and coated with gloss varnish which really brings out all the textures.

A Play Day Away

So yesterday I did a just over 300 miles round trip to go and have a play day with Chris.....

And Linda.

Once we'd had a coffee and a chat, we set to creating something. I decided to start a Teesha Moore style journal. As you can see, I opted for bright pages.

I can't believe that I actually didn't take one photo all day, so all these are pinched from Chris which is why there are so many of me and none of her!

We ended up making quite a mess!!

Lin was adding to the junk journal book that I had made for her, which you can see here.

And eventually the sun came out, oh and we got even more messier!!!

So here are some of the colours I used to paint the pages. Lovely and bright.

And the other sides. The green is actually neon and is lovely.

And this is the third set of pages which are the ones I was working on at Chris's.

And these are the other sides. You'd not believe how many images and magazines for cutting up she has! 

I think this page is finished. However, I do need to go in and do some doodling, but I think it's finished image wise.

And I think this page is finished too, again apart from some doodles.

Thank you both for a lovely chilled and relaxed, yet productive day. Thank you for keeping me supplied with coffee, taking me out to tea and getting me back to the A50!!

I'll be back again when I've worked on the rest of the book.

Textile Junk Journals

Following on from the fabulous James workshop I went to in July, I made a couple of gifts in the same manner. I've called it a junk journal as it has loads of junk (recycled stuff) inside.
