Metal Workshop with Lin Brown

I will warn you now, this is extremely picture heavy, with not many words!!!

Lin & Lin covering a canvas with patterned papers.

Still covering the canvas.

Meg and her new turtle toy.

Meg playing with her toy, which at this point still had both eyes!!

And she quickly found the squeaker.

We were playing with different metal tools and making a sampler.

And these are the samplers.

And here is Meg again, asking very nicely for her toy.

A bit of thinking was required next, oh what to put on the lettered background panels.

More brain power required, Helen is deep in thought.

Meg was back for another play with now the one eyed turtle.

Everyone back on the case.

Then it was time for tea and cake. It's Helen's birthday next week, so we celebrated it early.

Lin supplied the candles and we all had a piece of cake.

Anyway, cake over and back to it.

The metal work in progress.

Filled the deep grooves with grunge paste.

More of the same.

And finishing off the last few bit before we left for the day to meet back at the pub later.

In the pub waiting for a table, Lesley & Em.

Helen, and Jo met us there. It was fabulous to see her again. Thanks for coming Jo.

Lin in the pub, pondering.

And then Lin joined us in the wait.

And finally we got a table, ordered and got our food.

And then we were all stuffed, but there was room for pudding for some.

We are back again tomorrow to progress with our makes.

Captured Memories

It's been such a dull and gloomy day that I wanted to get my bright and vibrant Dylusions out and have a play. I introduced a few stencils using DecoArt black and white gesso and the bump technique.

Next I switched to the DecoArt chalky paint and added more black and white through stencils. I also added the words to the heart in DecoArt black modeling paste for a raised texture.

Once the modeling paste was dry the heart needed some further attention. Black smudgy pencil but it wasn't dark and bold enough, so out came the portfolio pastels and the Clarity 'inspire' stamp and I thought it was finished.

Still the heart didn't feel finished, so I added some white dots between the two heart shapes and some black scribbley lines in the gap under the word memories and also some more stamping with a hash type stamps to fill in some gaps along with a couple of the Finn stamps. Now I think it's finished.

Don't Forget to Fly Canvas

I wanted to have a play with some DecoArt media mister sprays, some texture, a canvas and some Finn stamps

As it was a deep edged canvas I did the sides too.

I used DecoArt modelling paste through the AS snake's web stencil.

I used a mix of turquoise shimmer, purple, red and white shimmer DecoArt media misters along with the metallic lustres in champagne ice, turquoise and purple.

Next I stamped the Finn stamps, cut them out and coloured them with a wash of the turquoise shimmer media mister.

Close up of the fab texture and the main image.

All products used were from the DecoArt range.

Playing with Paint

I decided to experiment with different paints but tried to use the same colours. I chose to paint an mdf plaque and a #8 manila tag. As you can see I chose blue and orange starting with the DecoArt Multi Surface Satin paints. The blue is called true blue and the orange is 2 coats of neon with a coat of pumpkin patch over the top.

This is the DecoArt Chalky Finish Paints in Legacy which is the blue and heritage which is the orange.

And my third choice, Dylusions in London Blue and Squeezed Orange.

Here are the mdf plaques side by side in the same order as above, Multi Surface, Chalky & Dylusions.

And the tags side by side, again same order.

And then the fun began as I wanted to see how they stamped. These are the DA multi surface.

More Dina stamps with the new Finn brick wall stamped in archival on the Dylusions paints.

And finally the DecoArt Chalky Finish paints again incorporating Dina's images.

Here are all the mdf plaques lined up.

And the tags side by side, multi surface, chalky & Dylusions.

And finally the plaques with the corresponding tags underneath.

After all that I don't have a preference, they all work perfectly well on the mdf and on the manila tags and as you can see, the stamping on each turned out fine.

Next I think I need to mix the different products with each other and see how they blend together.

Fathers Day Cards

Made a couple of fathers day cards from one of last weeks gelli print pages and die cuts.

I think the piece at the back looks a bit like a map, very fitting!!

Blue, Blue & Green

The Summer of Colour challenge has started again and I also wanted to try out my new DecoArt Multi Surface Satin paints. Before I knew what the colour scheme was I'd already painted the MDF plaque with the chartreuse and deep turquoise. The paints are gorgeous, when dry they leave a sheen like it's been varnished, but it's not a glossy finish. It's hard to explain but they are lush and the colours so vibrant.

Stamped the Lynne Perrella PA image in black archival, masked it off and over stamped with 2 PA minis in blue stazon. Painted the outside border with night sky DecoArt multi surface paint to finish it off.

Gelli Plate Play

Dylusions teal and red which made a purple in the middle where they blended. These paints are lush on the gelli plate but dry extremely quickly!!!

And the purple and pink in the Dylusions

And the pink and the orange, again in the Dylusions

And the teal and the orange and where they blended it made a green

And left, the pink and red and right the red and it pulled some yellow which was left on the plate

And finally for the Dylusions orange and lime and on the right purple and teal with lime splodges!

And this one was created using the DecoArt multi surface satin paints

The dolphin, which is a steely grey is absolutely gorgeous

And this was using one of the greens and a blue in the DA satins

And the chartreuse and orange sherbet. I also added some drying time extender as I wasn't sure how open the paints would be. Put a bit too much on which is why it beaded up, but love the effect it created.

And I wanted to try them on fabric and they came out really well, am really pleased with them

This is all what I ended up with from my play day

Tag & Atc Swap

I made these for a tag and atc swap with a theme of geometry or shapes to you and me. I basically created a master board with Dylusion paints in grape, teal, red, blue and pink background and added marks in black and white using bottle tops, bubble wrap, end of a paint brush and a credit card and stamped some EV rectangles and circles in purple and blue stazon.

I cut them into two sized tags to fit my Dina Wakley images and had enough left for 3 atc's even though the swap is only for two. Added the Dina Wakley images from the all the gals plate and out-lined them all with the smudgy pencil and smudged!

I'm also entering into the FSC challenge again this week as they have a theme of people or person.
