WIP - Powertex Sculpture

This was a very cheap way of creating my very first Powertex sculpture. The base is an empty wine bottle and the head and bust is a plastic doll from Poundland. They are stuck together with masking tape.

There are no photos of the in-between stages as there is no way of picking the camera up without getting it coated in Powertex, which wouldn't be a good idea!

This is the back. I still need to practice to create more ruffles, but for a first attempt it's not bad.

The shawl and the head were surprisingly quite easy to do.

And here she is drying on the table. I need to repaint her face as some of it hasn't covered properly due to it being plastic, but in the main it worked out well.

Photos are rubbish again due to it raining all day and being pretty dull and gloomy all round.

It's still not dry enough to add any pigments yet, and I'll probably not have any time now this week to finish it off, but I'll post a finished photo when it's all done.

This looks fabulous! Look forward to seeing it finished, at some stage - I know you will miss all your creative time, but fabulous news about the job, hope it goes well; good luck - not that you'll need it. xx

Wow! Who would have thought you could turn a cheap plastic doll and a wine bottle into such a work of art?! I've been looking at the Powertex wondering whether it's the way to go for making or at least clothing some dollshouse dolls (it's always the sewing bits I run away from - even more so in miniature!) and this is definitely food for thought. Absolutely brilliant!
