Gothic Arch Gate

Painted a gate arch with black gesso and then laid some resin and metal embellishments down.

Glued it all down and then painted everything in black gesso.

Then used my new to me, chameleon pigments from Resin-Pro.

They seemed to be mainly green based.

Then a bit of pinky, purple became visible.

And then more purple.

Depends which way the light is shining.

Just lightly dusted the back of the arch.

And lastly just to give an idea of the depth.

Slate Dragon Plaque

I turned the above Merry Christmas slate plaque into the background as seen below using a stencil, modelling paste and acrylic paints.

Then I started to lay out some resin pieces, I was trying to create a mystical vibe.

Chose corresponding metallic pigments and paints to colour the resin and metal pieces with.

And here it is finished, looking good hanging on the wall.

Close up of the bottom right corner.

Close up of the bottom left side.

Close up of the dragon.

Close up of the middle.

This is for sale on my Website and FB Page.

Pigment Experimenting on Resin

Last night I was watching a live on FB about the new Pentart rub on pigments and dipping paint. So today I decided to see if I could replicate the colours using stash I already have. Here are the results:

This is Pearl Ex interference green mixed with Finnabair clear antiquing wax and applied with a brush onto the resin piece which had been primed with matte black gesso.

For this one I used the gold olive secret loft pigment and Finnabair clear antiquing wax. Resin piece painted in matte black gesso.

And this one with kiwi perfect pearls from Ranger and Finnabair clear antiquing wax applied with a brush. Resin piece primed with matte black gesso.

The butterfly was primed with matte black gesso and then painted with DecoArt interference green paint. No wax required.

Then I came across a bottle of black high gloss paint so I painted directly onto the piece.

When it was dry it was really shiny.

I then used Finnabair clear antiquing wax with perfect pearls interference green from Ranger.  I didn't like this result.

So I used matte black gesso and completely painted over it.

And the result wasn't much better but was better than using the gloss paint.

And lastly I used Finnabair clear antiquing wax and Luminarte pigments on the cogs at each end.

And this is how I put all the different elements together to create a notebook / journal cover.

Spiked Mask Canvas

I saw a canvas made by someone on FB and I absolutely loved it. so I decided to have a play and put my own touches to it.  Although, I have to say, I loved it so much, I didn't change too much but didn't want to completely replicate it.

I used a full face mask and a fancy brown decoupage mask, I fitted them together to make on mask. Used t-shirt fabric and paper deco with bronze powertex.

Once completely dry, I started adding hardware and wire.

I painted over the top with silver acrylic paint.

Added red paint and red pigments to the canvas once really dry.

Took a quick photo outside before it rains again!

A few close ups. Added pieces of wire to the eye sockets.

I tried to re-create the effect of barbed wire.

I added three netting staples over the mouth.

A line of screws to the forehead.

Red acrylic paint around the eye and mouth area. Lots of waxes and pigments also used.

This is the original that I was totally inspired by.  Cate Wilshaw of Dark Imaginings was the creator of this fabulous piece.  She completed it nearly 3 years ago, but I have only just come across it. I love it.

This is the whole piece.

Pen / Paint Pots

As my last two pen / paint pots sold so quick, I decided to make a couple more.

I used iridescent pigments on this one.

I went for a purple and a blue.

I added lots of little resin embellishment shapes.

For this one I used the Finnabair sparks paint.

Love how it looks on the black, it's got shades of greens and turquoises.

Again more small resin embellishments added.

They look great together.

They will be up for sale in my online shop.

Paint Pots & Cats

Finished a couple of coffee tins which I've changed into paint / pen pots.

And the other sides.

Added the resin and metal pieces.

I used bronze powertex.

Made a couple of cats using bottles and polystyrene ball.

I coloured them with gold and silver powertex pigments and the varnish, added some metallic buttons and made them each a pair of specs.
