MDF Mould Makes

 

I treated myself to four of the new release moulds from Finnabair (Prima Marketing) to play with.

I also bought some fast cast resin and OMGosh, this stuff is amazing.

20 minutes later and they are done - wow!

So I carried on and made some more.

I pulled out some different shapes of mdf and used black modelling paste to stencil onto them. I also added some crackle paste in various areas too.

Once dry I painted them all with a coat of black gesso.

I played with the resin pieces and other bits and bobs to build up compositions that I liked. I attached them with heavy gel medium and once dry painted everything with black powertex.

I used mica flakes on the wings.

Metallic lustres were used on this one.

I used green metallic foil to colour the queen of steam and the rest are coloured with a mix of metallic lustres and treasure golds.

For this one I just wanted a subtle blend of a few colours.  Metallic lustres used.

And finally I used a mix of metallic lustres and treasure golds.

Spooky House inspired by Finnibair

I came across a youtube video by Finnibair which I really liked, so I thought I'd give it a go with my own variations of course!

I used a Finnibair stencil with texture paste and sand and also some crackle paste in areas.

Once dry, I painted it with black powertex.

Next I pulled out some die cuts, metal pieces and some clay pieces to decorate with.

Next I laid out a bit of a plan.

This is a T!m die of the spooky house which I added crackle paste to.

Painted the spooky house in black powertex and re-arranged the elements.

I used the powertex to 'glue' down the pieces and then covered everything again.

Then I used metallic paints, pigments and interference paints / pigments to colour everything.

And here it is in the sun.

'A' Layers and Layers

I took a cardboard substraight in the form of a letter A and gave it a coat of media tinting base.

I added modelling paste, crackle paint, crackle paste and texture sand paste mixed with ultra matte varnish very randomly all over the A.

Next I started to apply different colours of media paint starting with paynes grey.

And yellow transparent oxide.

And after lots and lots more layers.

And same for the other side with lots of quin gold.

Next I added metallic lustre.

I used champagne, orange flicker, turquoise and black shimmer.

I was very sparing with the embellishments as I didn't want to cover too much up!

Huge MDF Tags

This is a 12" x 6.5" mdf tag covered with a piece of TH paper and then stencilled with gathered twig and iced spruce distress inks and a bit of background stamping in the same colours with Seths borders.

I added a couple of the vignette boxes with some bits and bobs inside them, and then some other ephemera onto the tag. The numbers and letters don't represent anything, they are just random!

And finally I coloured a piece of rope with distress stains in vintage photo and ice spruce, however it turned out green!! And the sun was out so I took the photo outside.

I covered this tag in a piece of spiders web paper, the silver web is actually embossed onto the paper. I intended to create a spooky kind of tag.

As you can see, it didn't turn out spooky at all, in fact, I think it looks more like a clown than a skull as the wings look like tufts of hair!!

And this time I used black soot to colour the rope, and again the photo is taken outside and it hi-lights the embossed background. I guess it's still spooky it an odd kind of way!!

I decided to paint the skull with carbon black media paint and then wiped some of it back to reveal the colours underneath.

So this is what it looks like now. It may stay like this or it may not!

Changed it yet again, added and wiped back white antiquing cream.

This is it now, not changing it any more!!

All Grunged Up

Stenciled DecoArt modeling paste and white crackle paste through a couple of stencils.

Once dry, painted with DecoArt tinting base.

Added layers of DecoArt media paint until I was happy with the colour blend. Hopefully you can see the crackle paste on the word live. 

This one started off with a phthalo blue wash.

Edged in carbon black and stamped in black stazon.

All mediums are from the DecoArt range.

That's Crafty have a challenge of all grungy this week, so I'm entering with these pieces.

Texture Atcs

I threw everything at these atcs, modelling paste, white crackle paste, white crackle paint, tar gel and corrugated cardboard to create a background of texture.

Once everything was dry I used Dazzling metallic paints for the base layer, second layer was several colours of metallic lustres until I liked what I had. Lastly I added a touch of black carbon media paint.
