Brown, Green & White

Had a play and this is what I made!!!  The image on the right is stamped with lake mist and  clear embossed.  I used distress inks to colour in the squares.  I stamped the words with timber brown stazon and shadowed it with lake mist. I stamped a white piece of card with lake mist and inked with crushed olive distress ink and added a couple of images from Lisa's Altered Art.  Mounted the white card onto green paper and then onto another piece of white card.  Edged both pieces of white with walnut stain distress ink and added a piece of ribbon to finish.

Travel Tag

I didn't really have any idea where this was going, but this is how it's ended up!!! I painted the tag with sand eco friendly paint, stamped it in various colours of script and inked over it with shabby shutters and crushed olive distress ink.  I inked the edges in walnut stain. I used lots of various inks in green, orange and brown for the background of the main piece, I applied them with a baby wipe and then stamped  randomly.  I stamped the main image with timber stazon, and then restamped part of it on another piece of card which I'd coloured with walnut stain and peeled paint distress inks and used 3d foam pads to raise it.  I stamped a suitcase and tag which I cut out and attached with 3d foam pads. Added a piece of lace, an eyelet and some string to the tags.

Charms

It's ages since I've taken part in a swap and Zoe over on Lotstodorevisited forum is hosting a charms swap.  The 3 charms could be made from anything they just had to have a jump ring or a way of fixing them to someone or something.  I made them all the same way using a small cookie cutter placed over the intended image. I filled it with clear UTEE, when cooled cut it out, attached the pins, beads, sequins, wires, jump rings and chain and put a piece of felt on the back to cover it all.

A Challenge

I set myself a challenge which was not to use any words (as in large stamped words) or an image.  This is what I came up with.  Both are canvas's.  Top one had half a dictonary page attached and white gesso was applied.  Crushed olive distress ink was swooshed over it and royal purple stazon was used to edge.  I covered a small box and 3 cut down straws in text paper and used the purple again. I attached a piece of Angelina Fibre with fibre in it and a piece of wire mesh.  Inside the box is a piece of wire and a large clear gem stone.

This one actually looks more pinky / red than it really is, so I might try and get a better picture tomorrow in different light.  Anyway I wiped on various colours of acrylic paint with a baby wipe.  Covered a piece of wood in aged mahogany crackle paste and varnished it when dry.  I added a few nails to the top.  I bound a few oddments of metal pieces together for each of the circles and sat them on top of a piece of thick copper wire.  The mesh at the bottom is material which I attached with staples.

***Edited*** This photo shows the truer colours.

This one also fits in with this weeks Lotstodo Challenge - shapes

Guilding Flakes & Acetate

This is another postcard.  The background is the tissue paper from the caught in crystal I previously made.  I stuck it to the card with intentional creases in for a more textured effect.  The image was printed onto the acetate.  Guilding flakes were adhered to one side of a piece of double sided film and the image on the acetate was stuck on the other. The bird image was cut from text paper with T!m's alteration dies.

The image and guilding for this one were done in exactly the same way as above except I run the edges over a candle flame for a different effect.  A piece of white core was run though the bigshot using the new cuttlebug clockworks embossing folder and sanded back. I stamped the word altered onto the hessian pillow, added a few metal embellishments and a corner piece.

Postcards with Stitches

I stitched this piece of hand dyed vilene which I'd previously burnt into with my textile tool and a brass stencil.  I used straight stitch first and went over it with a tight zig zag.  I left the threads long in the bottom right hand corner so that I could add some beads and sequins.  Thanks once again to Jo for this fab tip, hope I've done it ok Jo!!!!!

Again this piece of canvas is another that I'd already prepared.  I stitched it on with straight stitch going round it twice.  I added the piece of fibre down the side using a large zig zag stitch.  I was quite pleased with how this bit turned out as I've not done it before and didn't know if it would work or not. I usually stick them on first.  Again I left the bottom piece quite long to attach some wooden beads.

*****Edited***** I've entered this piece into this weeks Tuesday Taggers Challenge which is Canvas.  It is being sponsored by Art from the Heart.  Good luck everyone.

This piece is made from Angelina fibres with feathers, a skeleton leaf and wool fibres trapped between two layers.  I secured it around the edges using straight then tight zig zag stitch and randomly used a straight stitch to secure it further.  I used metaillic thread for the first time too.

All the backgrounds were brayered with ink from the big n juicy waterfall pad by Ranger.

Postcards

I have acquired this really lovely glossy card which is just about postcard size give or take a couple of mm's and I can't stop playing with it, hence all the postcards.  I used the paler shades of the alcohol inks for these ones.

Kath if you didn't think the previous one was a 'Sam' one then you won't think this is either!!!  I didn't buy the stamp, I was kindly given it, so thought I ought to use it.

The background image is clear heat embossed over black soot distressed ink.  The words have been shadowed with lake mist.

6 x 6

Stamped music onto white card and lightly coloured with crushed olive distress ink. Tore and coloured the edges for a more distressed look. Cut into the patterned paper and slid the music notes behind.  Added butterfly wings to Lisa's Altered Art image.  Added quote, flower and brad and accented some of the flourishes with gems.

Postcard

I used broken china, faded jeans and shabby shutters distress inks to creat the background.  Stamped the image and the saying with timber brown stazon.  Stamped the image onto a piece of music paper and tore a piece off, matched it up with the original and stuck it on.  Went around the edges with walnut stain distress ink.

Reverse Resist Postcard

Just thought I'd share this with you as I decided to have a go at another resist postcard but this time I reversed the black and white to the previous one.  I think it looks ok but I personally prefer the first one, just thought I'd try something different.

Resist Postcard

I decided to treat myself to a play been as though yesterday's key skills moderation visit went very well and last night was the last evening of my teaching course.

I stamped and clear embossed the 'white' wording.  They are so white because of the glossyness of the paper. Background is swooshed with rusty hinge, wild honey and crushed olive distress inks.  Black stazon was used to stamp the main images and mustard stazon was used to stamp the same wording.  Thanks Jo for the inspiration.

Caught In Crystal

Whilst I was playing on Saturday I prepared a sheet of caught in crystal.  I used spiced marmalade, dusty concord and mustard seed distresses inks for the colours and red and green glitter as I couldn't find any silver!!!

Hangers

The images were stamped over gilding flakes.  The green card was run through the big shot and sanded back.  The words were heat embossed with copper embossing powder.

Doncaster Race Course & Dunelm

Went to the craft show at Doncaster Race Course today orgainsed by Create & Craft, but one the way we called into Dunelm as I thought this was the closest one to us, until I was informed there is a 'better' one at Scunthorpe!!!!  Anyway, I managed to pick up a few bits.  Some fab colours of felt sheets, a bowl to mix my dyes in (when I get the time), an off cut of material (50p) and a pack of mixed sequins.

This is what I picked up at the show.  The rubber stamps were a bargain, £2 each for the snowman, merry christmas and the two wordy ones, £1.50 for the passion, love, etc and £1 each for the travel, altered and imagine.  Brads were 5 packs for £1.  The fibres were half price at £1.50 and the paper underneath was 50p for 12 sheets!!!!  Just got to find the time to play with it all now, including the last two lots of stuff that I've bought!!!!!

A Few More Bits

This was one of the first backgrounds when the brayer was really inked up.  The tree and the quote have been heat embossed with black embossing powder.

The face is stamped with stazon (purple and red) and the flowers are stamped with colorbox fluid chalk inks (primary pastels set) and mounted onto a piece of black card.

Using pitch black acrylic dabber paint I comletely covered the main piece of card and along with five very thin pieces which make up the frame and section separators.  I stamped all the images with versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  The white dots around the frame are also stamped and heat embossed.

A Couple of Unexpected Cards

These weren't meant to be cards when I started out, I was just playing with different inks and seeing what I could do with them.  I love this main image from Art Journey.  The top one is using the big n juicy pad and the bottom one a brilliance ink pad.  I'll add appropriate sentiments when I know what I'm using them for!!!

Fat Pages & a Tag

Still extremely busy at work, so apologies to everyone if I haven't found my way to your blog yet to leave a comment, but I will.  Yesterday I made time for a bit of a play in fear of forgotting what to do!!!!!

I created the backgrounds using a big n juicy pad and a brayer and then stamped various images using different types of inks, ie brilliance (top left), stazon (top right).  Bottom left I have stamped in brown and then put a shadow over it with Lake Mist.  The giggle one (bottom right) is upside down, but never mind!!!!

I also made a sheet of caught in crystal and this tag is made from the backing sheet of tissue paper.  Once the tissue had dried I prit sticked the tag, placed the tissue on and then ripped around the edges, added the skinny, the image was stamped in brilliance ink.  I punched a heart out of the angelina fibres and attached it so her face showed through.  Added a three layered flower and leaf attached with a brad and fibres and ribbons to finish.

A Couple of Cards

I used a piece of glossy paper from a magazine for the top one and a piece of text paper from a paperback book for the bottom one.  I coloured the papers with various colours of distressed inks and dried them with the heat tool.  I stamped the images using versamark ink and clear heat embossed over the top.  Using walnut stain distressed ink, I brayered over both pages and where clear embossed wiped away the ink.  Tore the edges, mounted, added ribbons and skeleton leaves to the top one and stamped the edges with sand eco friendly paint.  I haven't added any sentiments yet as I don't know what I am going to use them for but I was in need of a bit of a play having spent the day researching and typing up the first draft of my Equality & Diversity Assignment!!!!!

Retail Therapy

Martin took me to Sheffield this morning to the Colourcraft craft shop.  I was very good and only bought a few things as you can see above.  I should have also bought the silk paints starter kit, or at least a few single pots, but I couldn't make my mind up, so came away with none, which I am now regretting!!!!!  Still I managed to pick up a Procion dye starter kit, a 12 part starter kit of transfer paints, a huge bag of wonderfully coloured skeleton leaves, 3 stipple paint brushes, a big bag of cut off tyvek and a bottle of transfix to use with the transfer paints.

Doncaster Racecourse show next weekend, so I'm sure I'll be able to find more goodies there.

All that's needed now is a week off to play with them!!!!

New Stamp Sets

I finally found some time to have a play with the stamps sets that I won from Particraft.  I brayered ink from the mountain meadow big n juicy pad and stamped the main image in black stazon.  For the words and the music notes I painted neat bleach onto the stamp and stamped into the ink to remove the colour.  I also took a bit of colour away from the face and shoulders using a paintbrush.  I mounted a purple piece of card onto a black piece and stamped it with a flourish stamp using sand eco friendly paint.  I mounted the main image and added fibres.  It does look much better from a distance but I had to get in close to get the photo!!!!

I painted a piece of white card with bronze eco friendly paints and when touch dry painted pool tide over the top, gave it a quick blast with the heat gun and then swiped some of the top coat off to reveal the bronze.  You can get a really good shine on the metalic by buffing it up.  I stamped the image using timber brown stazon.  Tore and curled the edges.  I stamped the instrument onto a painted surface, cut it out and covered it with diamond glaze.  For the background I painted a piece of corrugated card in sand and stamped with mulch eco friendly paint and attached some string to hang it from.  I added a piece of twill ribbon and brads.

These stamps are from the other set.  Again I used the mountain meadow big n juicy but only used 3 of the colours.  Stamped the image and a quote.  Mounted it onto a piece of used dry babywipe.  Painted the corrugated in sand.  Mounted everything up and covered with a piece of angelina fibre which had been ironed over a rubber stamp.

Colouring In

This is my very first attempt at 'colouring in' with the needle.  As you can see I've gone over the lines and not completely coloured it all in, but it looks good in real life and I am pleased with it.  I used pink, salmon and fawn embroidery threads on calico fabric.

Tuesday Taggers - Make A Scene

Background is alcohol inked and I used stamps from Stampers Anonymous 'rock star' set.  This week was quite a challenge for me as I don't have any scene stamps!!!

Fraser in Willingham Woods

We took Fraser to Willingham Woods this evening, play the above short clip to see what he got up to!!

He was also a tad mucky when he'd finished, but he had a good time!!!!

Tissue Fabric

I made this background using a couple of sheets of vliesofix, calico, napkins, angelina fibres and watered down acrylic paint.  Once completely dry I machine sewed the grid using both straight and zig zag stitch.

I used all sorts of embellishments to decorate each of the squares.  These included stamped Angelina fibres, beads, sequins, alterations dies, skeleton leaves and painted tyvek.

Lotstodo - Hats / Crowns

This week over on Lotstodo the theme is 'hats and/or crowns'.  I free motion embroidered the hearts using black felt and bright yellow thread and then cut them out. I cut the wings and crown from yellow felt with T!m's alteration dies. Stamped the word 'alternative' onto a piece of fabric and covered it with black netting.  A piece of hessian was sewn with yellow thread and filled with wadding, the 3 buttons were hand sewn.  A strip of bronze criss cross fabric was attached to the background fabric and a piece of black wooly fibre across the top.  The pieces where then assembled to create the above.
