Fragile Papers - Drama Queen

PA have changed their challenges to themes and the first one is fragile papers. I stuck a piece of German text to a piece of card, once dry spritzed it and peeled away the edges, spread gesso here and there and brayed cherry red over parts. I drew a heart onto music paper, cut it out, added gesso, coloured with quinacridone burnt orange media paint, stuck it on and outlined in black smudgy pencil. I added a piece of cotton scrim also coloured in quinacridone burnt orange.

I stamped the Dina image onto printed script tissue paper, cut it out and stuck it onto the heart. Finally I added the letters.

N is for Numbers

Over on the DragonsDream TIO blog my good friend Helen has chosen this weeks theme of stencils and the letter N.  I used 3 stencils, diamonds down the left, T!m's ruler down the right and PTP dangles across the top. And as my N is for numbers I randomly stamped numbers in the background, added some tissue tape and the bingo board from a TH stamp set.

TH May Tag Inspired by Alison

My take on T!m's tag for May courtesy of my mate Alison. I didn't much like this months tag, but then I saw what Alison did, which you can see here, and had to give it a go.

Altered Tin

Over on the PA blog it's a new semester, which means a new set of designers and first up is Liesbeth Fidder who altered a tin which you can see here. First thing needed was a bonfire, so off Martin went and stoked up the chimnea.

He put the cigar tin the chimnea and the burning process began.

Charring nicely!!

These are the tins after they have cooled down.

For the inside pages I burnt them with lemon juice.

Then I decorated the tin, this is the front.

The inside using the burnt lemon juice pages, LP and PA stamped images and metal embellishments.

And I wanted to keep the back quite plain to expose most of the fab colouring on the tin.

Mini Chest

Over at the PA blog this week Julie Ann has been making a project using a suitcase which you can see here. I decided to play along with a little paper mache box.

Left is the inside of the lid and right is the inside of the box. The box was painted in a mix of mocca mousse and chocolate pudding fresco paints and the script was added in ice blue.

These are what I made to go inside the box. The tags were made from some of the images on LP030 and stamped in timber brown stazon.

And finally, here are all the bits inside the box.

I'm also entering into the Artful Times box clever challenge.

Celebrations Using Metallics

Happy Halloween - yes I know it's only January, but it fitted the theme!! The background is an embossed piece of black card coloured with a mix of every colour of metallic pan pastels. I added an image, torn tissue wrap, wire and words.

PanPastelUk have a theme of celebrations using metallics.

Anything Is Possible

Still following the brayering technique of day 1 over on the PA blog, I decided to use a whole sheet of card and cut it up as I need 3 Atc's for a swap and the theme is layers. I was also more sparse with the GP and used a more open stencil.

I added stamping in vanilla fresco paint and used aquamarine treasure gold over some of the GP.

Then I added my Hero Arts flower heads with an upside down prestud for the centre. Attached the string with mini staples. Mounted each individual tag onto one piece of card and scored the middle to create a diptych.

And this is it stood up.

I'm also entering into this months Arty Inklings challenge which is Springtime showing texture, some stamping and green.

Wendy V Background Makes

I made this atc using some of the background that I previously created using the Wendy V method.

Another atc using the brighter of the backgrounds. I stamped the image and outlined it in white posca pen. Added a strip of embossed metal covered in alcohol ink and 3 brads.

And another piece of the same background, again outlining half of the image with the white pen mounted in black scrunched tissue paper.

First tag of 2014

T!m posted his first tag of the New Year and what a cracker it was too. I mostly followed what he did, but used the alarm clock as opposed to the stop watch.

The embossed cogs and idea-ology parts, cogs, spinner and gears.

The ticket was stamped with part of a saying from my new classics #5 plate. I also flicked on some Dylusions graphite ink. I think this colour is now discontinued as it's in the old style bottle!!

And finally my embellishment.

Tag Along have a theme of tickets this week, so I'm going to enter over there too.

Changing Faces

Another piece of chipboard randomly covered with grunge paste, painted with various colours of fresco, haystack, Spanish mulberry, stone and cinnamon.  I stamped the image in black stazon onto crackly tissue paper. Using my new spellbinders sprockets set I cut the gear from very thin cardboard. I coloured a piece of acetate in latte, ginger and caramel, ran it through an embossing folder and attached with T!m's tiny attacher.

I added another of my Utee embellishments.

More Metal Effect Atc's

Destiny - I embossed the sticky silver foil the wrong way round so the pattern was in fact de-bossed but it didn't matter, it just meant the alcohol ink sat on the top.

I stamped into a piece of the foil covered card, not very straight, but it worked out okay. I also gave the brads a bash with T!m's hammer.

New Beginnings - Before I stuck down the sticky silver foil I put some glass micro beads on the card for extra texture.

Beyond Normal

I've been playing with alcohol inks and sticky silver foil tape. I stuck the sticky foil onto a piece of card and ran it though the French script texture fade. Coloured the background with snowcap AI and once dried, dripped on the individual colours cranberry, slate and pitch black, waiting until one dried before applying the next colour.

CAS Tag

Having had great fun with the smudging I decided to try another one but this time I used a darker grey by mixing elephant with little black dress.

Again I used the same two smudgy pencils for the hi-lighting.

I decided to use a more open stamp and on a tag this time around. Again starting with the white down the middle as per Jo's technique here.

Then I added the black and scribbled some white over the top for a grey colour.

Gave it all a smudge.

Added some more white dashes around the outside.

And finally added a piece of linen ribbon after colouring it with iced spruce and black soot distress stains.

Simon Says Monday have a theme of got ink and are simply asking to see any type of ink on your project, I used black archival.

Country View Crafts have a theme of letters and there are lots of random letters on this tag.

Two of a Kind

Over at the PA Blog, Alison is back and for her first project has been playing with tags and flipping a stencil. For my tag base I used a couple of the backing sheets that come with the PA chipboard shapes. The arches are cut from chipboard using T!m's set of 3 arches dies.

I gave them a coat of vanilla but you could still see through so then added a coat of haystack, then brown shed and finally blood orange.

For the top half of the tag I used yellow sub on the stencil but didn't feel it showed up very well, so then used zesy zing.  The right is through the stencil, the left is it flipped.

Then I took some of the stamps from the above LB04 plate (not the flowers) 

And randomly stamped them in snowflake fresco paint over the backgrounds.

I then took the above colours of distress ink

And sponged them onto the backgrounds to tone down the white images.

Painted the chipboard arches in blood orange fresco.

I used crackle on the arches and a top coat of haystack. Using my new wooden PA stamp I stamped the symbols in red stazon onto white card and coloured with spiced marmalade distress ink.

Next I took a dowel of wood 

And chopped it into 4 pieces and spiked the ends with a craft knife. I was trying to resemble some type of chopsticks to keep in with the oriental theme.
