Spykee Mousetrap

I decorated another mousetrap for the Out of a Hat Creations challenge.  This time I painted the background red and also used an odd piece from one of my gelli plate backgrounds.  I coloured Spykee with distress markers and shortened her legs so she'd fit on.  I took a black Posca pen and doodled a frame around the outside.

Return of the Mousetrap

Over at Out of a Hat Creations, they are running another mousetrap challenge with a free theme.  I covered the board with tissue wrap, and stamped my favourite image onto a piece of white card and then mounted it onto a piece of kraft card.  The mini tag is from the same stamp and coloured with frayed burlap distress ink.  I added a couple of brads and a piece of ribbon.

It's a Wrap

Over at Stampotique this week Jo has chosen the theme of Christmas wrapping.  I was quite limited to what I could do as I don't have that many Stampotique Christmas stamps, although to enter the challenge you don't have to use the Stampotique range, it's just that I wanted to.  So using Daniels Tree, the Baubles and my Alphabitties I set to it.

The tag I made using the Stampotique Scary Angel. She's actually called the tree topper but I prefer scary angel.

This is a close up of the clear embossed tree with just a bit of sparkle added.

I made top 3 with this creation

Have a Heart...

... in a la Paris.  Over at Simon Says Stamp & Show this week their guest designer has chosen the theme of 'to craft a project with heart'.

I covered this pre-cut mdf heart with pieces of a napkin of Paris characteristics that I was kindly sent to me by Helen from the world of Twitter. I was going to add a focal image and further embellishments but it seemed such a shame to cover up the napkin images.

Music Tag

Over at Out of a Hat Creations this week they are asking for 'music'. Was a bit stumped with this one as I don't have much in the way of musical things, but the lovely Helen sent me some of T!m's tissue wrap (melange) in the post and it just happened to be of the music variety.  So I cut a piece big enough to wrinkle over a tag. I gave it a coat of brushed corduroy distress ink.  I stamped the Hampton Arts image in black Stazon and cut it with a spellbinder nesties die.  Added a piece of card which had been run through the rough diamond Cuttlebug embossing folder, stapled on a piece of crumpled crunchy wax paper and covered the mini staples with T!m's music tissue tape.  Everything was edged with onyxite treasure gold from Paperartsy.

Using Paint with Stampotique

Over at Stampotique this week they are asking for us to incorporate paint into our project.  Been as I went to AftH earlier in the week and attended the Gelli Plate class with Kate Crane I decided to use a background piece I created whilst I was there.  I added the word jotter in black stazon using the Stampotique Alphabitties and I'd already got Gibi coloured in from when I was testing out my distress markers.  I punched the holes with my new Cinch machine, but as you can see, I've not yet got the hang of it as I've put the wire on the wrong way round!!!

***Edited*** I made the top 3

New Stampotique - AftH

I forgot to show you what I bought at AftH yesterday.  I didn't get a gelli plate as I think they are way too expensive.  They would have to be at least half the price to convince me I need one!!!  So I just settled for 3 Stampotique stamps instead.  I didn't even know the middle one existed, but I really liked it and it's a great size.

Gelli Art Plate Workshop AftH

Had an absolutely fabulous day today.  I attended a workshop at AftH taught by the lovely Kate Crane.

This is my pile of gelli plate prints.  I was doing very well until about 11.30am when I gave in and just had to use some greens!!  I'd been using blues, pinks and purples.  Yes you did read that right, it does say PINK!!!

Kate is lovely, and if you are lucky enough to get the chance to attend one of her classes, I would certainly recommend it. The class was really easy going, chilled and relaxed, also she is a fab tutor and her depth of colour is absolutely unbelievable.

This is Emma who I shared my plate with.  As you can see, she is a pink person and I caught her eating her lunch!!!

This is Emma's pile of prints.

I bought her a little present, and this is her opening it.  She doesn't like to open presents in front of people, so I thought I'd show you all!!!

This is the only piece I made in the class as I wanted to bring the rest home to make into backgrounds for books and tags etc.

It's cut from the larger of the two T!m Holtz matchbook movers and shapers die, stamped with a Dina Wakley script and some TH tissue tape over the tiny attacher staples.

Kate had the fab idea of adding a pad of post it notes to the inside which has been covered in text paper and stamped with walnut distress stains.

Fun with Faces

Wow, I can't believe that I've not seen this challenge site before, Fun with ATCs.  It was brought to my attention by Butterfly aka Alison - thanks Alison xxx

Their challenges run for 2 weeks and this week their theme is Faces, so I decided to join in.  The background is orange pan pastel (280.5) and I used a rubber to take some colour off her face, head dress and the flowers. Added a gem, ribbon and a charm.

Dare to Dream

Left side embossed background is fresco paint and right side background is Dylusion sprays, both have been swiped with treasure gold.  The main image is from PaperArtsy, the eye has been coloured with a green distress ink marker, more treasure gold added and the crunchy wax paper has been stapled to the right hand side.

Sunday 18 November 2012

Dream On

This tag has been crackled and ripped off half way.  The PaperArtsy image was stamped in black stazon onto a piece of manilla coated card and stapled onto the tag with T!m's tiny attacher.

The bottom piece has been put through a script embossing folder and coloured with treasure gold.  Crunchy wax paper added along with tissue tape.

Ribbon cut into 5 pieces and a letter stamped onto each piece and attached with a brad which has been hammered!! Embellished and fibres added to finish.

Have a Heart Tag

Last one, I promise!!!

Again covered with white fire liquid leaf.

Then I used a colour I don't normally use, red.

But I toned it down a bit with the bronze.  Again I used the lumiere paints.

And lastly, the finished tag.

Use it Up

Over at Out of a Hat Creations this week they asking for us to use up our stash.  Everything I've used here is well over a year old apart from the hanger which I got from the Manchester ICHF show around September time.

Another Textured Tag

Can you tell I mixed up way too much texture paste and puff paint!!

This time I covered the whole tag with white fire liquid leaf.

I rubbed over the whole of the tag with onyxite treasure gold.

The finished tag.

Liquid Leaf Stampotique Tag

The puff paint and texture paste has really taken well on this tag.

It's been coloured with white fire liquid leaf.

I coloured the other side of the tag with pewter lumiere paint.

A close up.

Stampotique Moth Fab image added from a previous sample using distress ink markers.  Also added a tattered flower, again another previous sample, together with a piece of TH film strip ribbon and a mini arrow.

Shades of Green

More texture paste and puff paint through a stencil onto the tag and heated.

Coloured with olive green lumiere paint.

The top section has been accented with olive bronze treasure gold and the bottom section with onyxite treasure gold.

The embellished tag.  The image is stamped onto a crackled background cut with a nesties spellbinder. For some reason the light has really picked up on the colour of the crushed olive distress stain used to colour the lace.  It's nowhere near that bright IRL!!!

Autumnal Leaves

Over at Stampotique this week they have chosen the theme of nature.  With all the leaves falling off the trees at the minute I thought I'd replicate that with my tree.  The background is coloured with pan pastels over a brick stencil, the tree is coloured with pan pastels and Head and his crown are coloured with water colour paints.

Tuesday 13 November 2012

Puff Paint & Texture Paste Tag

I mixed a batch of texture paste with puff paint and spread it over a stencil using a spatula.

Heated it with a heat gun so the puff paint puffed!!

Painted it with lumiere paints in bronze, pewter and gold.

I rubbed various colours of treasure gold over the raised areas, but unfortunately it's hard to see from the photo!!

And this is the tag embellished.

Embellished Tag

This weeks PanPastelUK challenge is make an embellishment.  I made my own embellishment using a button and a brad and colouring them with pewter Treasure Gold along with the crunchy wax paper and the edges of the tag.  The ribbon is coloured with dusty concord distress stain.  The background is crackled and the top coat is mushroom coloured fresco paints.  The image is by B Line Designs and I tinted her hat and hair with distress ink markers.
