Industrial Rust Erosion - Box

One of the boxes that I picked up whilst on my recent holiday. It's approx 6" x 4" x ".5" and has a clasp closing. 

Decorated the lid with parts from my old laptop and a piece of Meccano.

I then started to build up a composition using resin shapes.

And once I'd got the base layer down I started to build it up.

Gave all the resin pieces a coat of black gesso.

Added texture paste, rust powder, rust effect liquids and acrylic paints to create the rust effect.

Bookends or Treasure Boxes

 

I painted the drawers I took out the top part of the cabinet.

I added patterned papers in the back and bottom.

Used texture paste on the outsides and top.

Then I decided to paint them both in purple metallic acrylic.

And I also did the tops.

I then filled them in with mini bits and pieces.

I added some tulle on the bottom and heated it to curl around the bases.

They can either be used for bookends of display ornaments.

Layers and Layers & Layers and Layers!!!

I can't even begin to tell you how many layers there are on this canvas as I just kept adding more and more layers of paint amongst some stamping and stenciling. Once I'd decided the background was finished, I added brighter coloured paints to the Seth Apter die cut shapes.

That's Crafty have any anything goes theme this week.

Three Atc's

Created some backgrounds using modelling paste, matte medium and textured sand paste.

Then I made three grungy Halloween type atc's for a swap I am holding over on a FB group by adding different colours of media paint until I was happy with what I had.

I added some quin gold to the pieces of wire and the staples.

The red is from the media mister.

And the words have been wiped over with quin gold.

I'm also linking up to Country View Crafts as they have a theme of all things spooky.

Mini Marvels Swap

I'm taking part in a swap over on FB and this month the theme was altered playing cards, we needed to make 9 to swap with 9 others and then when we have all our swaps, the next part of the challenge is to showcase them in whatever way you wish. I am planning on mounting mine on black card and binding them with a bind it all.

Cogs and Hearts Canvas

Texture paste and mircobeads painted on the canvas, when dry painted with night sky multi surface satin, copper metallic lustre used to hi-light the textures from the microbeads. Lots of embellishments and die cuts added to create the collage.

PaperArtsy Inspired Frame

Gillian has completed this months techniques over at the PaperArtsy Blog.  Check out here for the full technique.  I used a 15 cm square shadow box but took the back off.  I more or less prepared the frame the same was as shown. 

 I used the Crafters Workshop, Antiquities stencil with texture paste.  A mixture of limelight, hey pesto, honey dew and guacamole greens and baltic blue, south pacific and beach hut blues and snowflake and nougat to mix them.

As I didn't have the wood to put in the hole, I used the thick plastic what came with the shadow box.  I stamped the image from the LP #10 plate and painted it from the reverse using the same colours as above.  I stamped the mini script #44 on the frame in baltic blue and used olive bronze, sapphire and renaissance treasure gold to hi-light the texture pasted areas.  I went around the edges both inside and out with a very fine layer of baltic blue. 

I decided that the two pieces didn't combine very well and the face was way too stark white.  So I used black stazon and the mini script stamp again to stamp around the edges of the plastic and the face.  To extend this, I carried it through in a few areas onto the frame.

Still not being a 100% happy with it, I went back to it this morning and added some gems and some white pen!!!

A Happy Tag

Over at Stampotique this week Kaz wants us to show her a bit of happy.  So what could make me happier than firstly making a tag, using a combination of texture paste and puff paint through a stencil and just watching it evolve - the texture is fabulous.

Then painting it with the fabulous PaperArtsy freso paints.  Stamping some of my favourite Stampotique images and using my distress ink markers to colour them in.

Clock Canvas Collage

Linda is back with her third technique of the week over at the PaperArtsy blog, which you can find here.  

Using my new clock stencil and texture paste I created the textured background.  I lightly sponged eggplant, claret, baltic blue, beach hut, pansy and nougat onto the canvas.   I stamped the images and words from the Ink and the dog, Clocks #3 plate onto tissue paper, cut them out and glued down with Mod Podge.  I swiped a black stazon ink pad over the canvas to pick up the texture paste.  I went back in with the paints and used a black Posca pen to hi-light the words.  I stamped the TH chicken wire in blaze red stazon and the script from the Ink and the dog background #2 plate in ultramarine stazon.  I edged the canvas with black paint.  Finally I added some watch parts to embellish.

This week the theme over at Out of a Hat Creations is clocks.  My canvas fits perfectly so I'm entering it into their challenge too.

Dina Wakley has a new book coming out soon, Art Journal Freedom, and as I was researching it I found a free download called Silhouetting with Spray Ink, so I had a play.  They are actually supposed to be journal pages, but as I don't do journalling I figured they'd be okay on pieces of card.

You are supposed to write on them, ie, add your journalling, so I used a script stamp instead.

Simon says Stamp and show are having an anything goes week, and anything definitely goes here!!!

MDF Book

Remember my wooden book that Emma gave me for Christmas, well I couldn't wait to get started with it, so I did!! Just to let you know, this post is very picture heavy.

I gave it a coat of white gesso, used the cogs stencil and spread texture paste through it.

Gave it a blast with the heat gun to dry it off.

I loosely used the Fresco Texture Background with Crackle Glaze technique which Leandra show cased here.

I added Onyxite and Renaissance treasure gold.

Over the texture paste cogs and the edges.

I also swiped over the cogs with black memento ink to give them a bit more definition.

I used black stazon to stamp the T!m image from the Steampunk set.

Harlequin Canvas

This time I used neat texture paste through the crafters workshop harlequin stencil directly onto the canvas.  

I painted it with limelight fresco paint and hi-lighted areas with aquamarine and sapphire treasure gold.  The word 'dream' was die cut from a movers & shapers die and again hi-lighted with the same colours of treasure gold.  It was backed with a piece of tissue paper coloured with distress re-inkers and 4 green pearly gems added.  The image is a transfer as per yesterdays post.  The small words are from the dark room door set I recently picked up for a fiver, stamped with black stazon, cut out and mounted onto the canvas.
