Christmas Baubles

Alison made THIS fab card and then sent it to me for Xmas along with some wooden snowflakes so I could have a go myself. So I didn't hold back, I totally stole her idea and got straight onto playing. 

Instead of using friendly plastic, I used coloured utee. I was going for a red, but when it had melted I realised it was actually orange, but not to worry!!  I painted the wooden snowflakes silver and added gold glitter and micro beads into the utee.

Don't you just love how it oozes thought those holes!!

Thanks Alison, not only for the idea, but for the snowflakes too.

Utee Embellishments

I've been playing with clear Utee, printed images, cookie cutters and to dye for ink and made these embellishments.  The green heart isn't as dark as it looks as it's transparent when held up to the light as I used the to dye for ink.

Day 7 - really enjoyed the techniques for this one. Ended up using lime stickles for the holly and black diamond for the berries!!! Stamp is a Crafty Individuals one - CI-164


Day 2 - finally - as you can see my range of christmas stamps is very limited!!! But I made the shaker from the packaging that T!m's discs come in and found some silver micro beads to fill it with!!!!

At least I'm up to date now - just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings!!!!

Door Hanger - Lotstodo Challenge

A couple of weeks ago I had a crafty evening round at Maz's. Kate also dropped in for a coffee and catch up. Maz gave us a project to do, decorate a door hanger. So, I made mine for Kate and Kate is altering hers for me. I have to say, I am a tad worried as Kate is very heavily into PINK!!!!! Anyway, that's another story!! Her craft room has been christened 'the beach hut', hence the sign for her door. Giving it to her at the Dome today, hope she likes it.

Suspended Utee

Finally got round to playing with my melt pot today. A few weeks ago I picked up a tin of very mini cookie cutter shapes and I've been dying to try them out. Well here they are. I've cut two of the same shape and suspended them on wire and cotton twill in aperture frames, so no matter if you look at them from the front or the back, they are the same, as I've decorated both sides of the frames. They actually look better in real life as they have been photographed on a flat surface instead of hung up. Anyway, you get the general idea.

Domino & Bottle Cap Swap

Andrea over on Lotstodo is hosting a bottle cap and domino swap. I hammered my bottle tops flat, punched out various papers and images, added words and / or embellishments and attached them to the bottle caps, linked 3 together using jump rings and a piece of chain and added a charm, or in the case of the one on the left, the bottom of a zip!!!!

These are the larger foam dominos. I lightly coloured them with distressed alcohol inks and then stamped the various images using black stazon. I added marmalade distress stickles on the crown of the first one, a utee star on the middle one and a black clay heart coloured with silver dabbers on the Mona one.

I decorated the edges with window lead after I'd run them through the cuttlebug and applied some black acrylic dabber paint.

Lotstodo Week 28 - Collage

This weeks theme on Lotstodo is collage. Here is my collage of square shapes on a corrugated cardboard background. All the squares are made from different elements. There are some utee pieces, some stampbord, some metal, some TH fragments and a few others!!!

I sent it to Caz for her birthday, hope she liked it!!!

A Forky Thingy!!!!

I bent the prongs on a fork and came up with this. The arms and legs are from Artgirlz (thanks Sue for getting them for me), the flower stalks are strips of corrugated cardboard, the flower heads are from Hero Arts

Mask on a Stand

This mask was made earlier using playdoh as a mould, I've just jazzed it up with a bit of colour using adirondack dimensional pearls. The base of this was made from utee and a star shaped cookie cutter, whilst still hot I pressed a wooden chop stick into it. I then painted the chop stick black and attached the mask to it.

Playdoh Moulds

Took Hilda a can of Playdoh to make moulds with. After we'd raided her brooch box we made a mould. This time though we used clear embossing ink all over the mould in the hope of it acting as a resist. The detail on this cameo was stunning.


This was also a lovely brooch but the detail didn't transfer as well, but we gave it a go anyway.

I used a few drops of orange to dye for in my utee and these are the results after a lot of scrubbing as the resist on the playdoh didn't work. Hilda added a few coates of perfect pearls to hide what we couldn't get off!!!! Still, I think we laughed more than ever, apart from when I melted my paint brush and it all fell apart, now that was funny, but that's another story!!!!

Moulds with Playdoh

I created moulds with playdoh to make all of the above pieces. Some of the doh does get stuck onto the utee once it's hardened and I found that it took the gloss off leaving a matte effect!!! The playdoh itself is also hard to get off. I coloured them with perfect pearls.

Beer Mats

Bridie has just opened a new craft shop, even though she already has a very successful online craft shop. She wanted some beer mats to show in the shop and decorate her door frame with. These are some of the fronts and backs of a few that I've made for her

Wall Hanging

Finally got my melt pot out again today. This is a wall hanging that I've made for a friend. Unfortunatley the two pieces appear to blend so you can't see the detail on the face and the rainbow effect of the perfect pearls on the back piece very clearly. But I'm happy with it and I hope she will be too

Another Altered Photoframe

Went to my local craft shop today for some retail therapy and they had a sale on Jo Sonia paints, so I picked a few bottles up and had a play with them. I created this photoframe, with a pale green, pale blue and a purple. I stamped the leave images with olive stazon and added the embellishments which I'd previously made using my melt pot and added the letters to make nature

Lotstodo Week 6 Challenge

Well the challenge this week on Lotstodo was to alter a cd. So I thought I'd incorporate an embossed piece which I made earlier with my cuttlebug and also use some letters that I also cut with it. The letter plate was kindly sent to me by a friend who no longer used it. I also used 3 flowers that I'd made ages ago using my melt pot and perfect pearls - don't worry, I haven't lost the plot. This is my one and only flower piece for this year, oh, apart from my mums birthday card, and that's only because she absolutely loves flowers!!!!!

I've Started!!!!

I received this little lot in the post today from my mate LazyKay. She has made me a little notebook to keep a log of my miles, a stunning card made from metal and coloured with alcohol inks and a fab key ring of Fraz made with UTEE which is already housing my desk drawer key.

I officially started yesterday, and it was all a bit hectic to tell you the truth, but as I get more into it I'm sure it'll be fine

Distressed Fat Pages

Some distressed fat pages for another challenge on the lotstodo forum. The backgrounds were inked with distressed inks but were applied with a babywipe. Images stamped with stazon inks and some embellishments added - still have more to do!!!!!

9 x 2" x 2" Squares

Here we have 9 x 2"x2" squares from mountboard for a challenge on lotstodo forum. I inked the whole piece using peeled paint, marmalade and mustard distressed inks, then cut them into the squares. Stamped the backgrounds and images using timber brown, jet black, rusty brown and forest green stazon and added embellishments to a few of them - the theme was spring colours
