Grunge Paste Casey

This was really spooky!! I've been playing with my new body image stencils over the weekend and I'd grunge pasted this image onto one of the small mdf plaques and set it aside to dry, and then this popped up on my Blogger dashboard.

So as I was half way there I decided to give Linda's technique a go and I love the results!!!

Background is a mix of fresco paints in stone, mushroom, very berry, claret and squid ink.

Carly Plaque

I used one of the large mdf man plaques and one of my new stencils, mini Sally & Carly to create this.  I put grunge paste through another new stencil, mini confetti, top and bottom.  Painted the whole thing in snowflake fresco paint a few times as I wanted a bright white. Took the negative of Carly and filled in with French roast fresco paint.  Once dry I used the positive as a mask and stamped in timber brown various Dina Wakley and Traci Bautista stamps.  I took the negative along with a white posca pen and wrote all over the image. I finished off by adding onyxite treasure gold with a brush.

Starry Eyed

Been having a play with my new atc size stampbord which came earlier in the week and decided to mount it onto one of the smaller mdf plaques.

Both pieces are painted in blood orange fresco paint.

Star template was used on the plaque with grunge paste, painted in snowflake and stamped with script in black stazon.

LP image stamped onto stampbord in black stazon and scratched to reveal the white.

A Cog 'n' Spool

I decided to continue playing with the colours and images used on my stampbord plaque but I wanted to use a different shape and there it was, a mini cog.  It measures 6.5cms, tip to tip.

I painted one side in ice blue (only because it came yesterday!!) and green olives fresco paint.  I stamped the LP010 image in olive green stazon and used a black posca pen to do a bit of hi-lighting.

I painted the other side in haystack and blood orange and stamped the LP005 image in black stazon.  I used a white posca pen for the hi-lighting on this side.

Then I needed to decide how to display it.  I tried tying various things around the cog ends but nothing worked to enable me to show both sides.

So I took a wooden spool and luckily it just sat nicely in the hole at the top, so I set about decorating it. I painted it in the above colours, stamped the script from the Ink and the Dog background plate in black stazon and for the middle, I used some of the green washi tape that I'd made a couple of days ago here.

CraftyBoots have a challenge, anything but a square, so I'm entering my cog n spool.

Anything but a Card have a theme of get messy, so again I'm playing along with this piece.

Happy Birthday Helen

It's my Twitter friend Helens birthday today and we actually met earlier this year when Emma and I went to Ally Pally

I know the 'lonely girl' image by Dina Wakley is one of her faves, so I decided to use this along with fresco paints in shades of blues and browns to decorate this mdf plaque as a birthday gift for her.

I am also entering it into the Hobby House Challenge as their theme is anything goes and also Our Creative Corner using the recipe
  • List A - Ribbon
  • List B - MDF/Wood
  • List C - Paint and Ink
And PanPastelUK are asking to see loads a layers, well loads were used to build up this background!!

Homemade Washi Tape!!!

Well Darcy is back on the PA blog this week, she's been making her own washi tape and invited us to play along, see here.  I used different types of tape.  Top piece, masking tape, 2nd is some sort of steri tape, 3rd is Morrisons microporus tape, 4th and 6th are doubleside tape stuck to tissue paper and 5th is Wilkos clear washproof tape.

I coloured them using different shades of fresco paint and did some stencilling on them.

I stamped over the top in various Ink and the Dog images with stazon and stuck them on the backing paper.

Then I cut them into strips ready to use.  I couldn't make them any longer as I was governed by the size of the backing paper.  I was going to cut them flush but then decided it'll be easier to pull them off when I come to use them if there is a bit extra to get hold of.

Stampbord Plaque

I've been playing with stampbord again!!  I coloured the individual pieces with the brighter of the shades of distress inks; mowed lawn, mustard seed, rusty hinge, spiced marmalade, peacock feathers, salty ocean and festive berries.  I stamped the PA and LP images in black stazon and did the scrapy thing!!

The mdf plaque was coated in gesso and then in snowflake fresco paint.  The background was coloured with mowed lawn, salty ocean, barn door, rusty hinge and mustard seed distress paints and edged in black soot.

Unfortunately it's a bit of a dull day today so the colours aren't as bright as they are in real life.

Anything but a Card have challenged us to get messy, and I certainly did with this one!!

Oriental Minitures

A size #10 tag in black, coloured the size #8 tag with blood orange fresco paint and stamped it randomly with the oriental scrip from the Ink and the Dog Asian plate.  The centre piece is an LP image on shrink plastic, housed in a paper clay frame mould, kindly given to me by Emma.  That paper clay is really weird stuff before it's set, it feels like chewing gum!!

Kraft Hanger

Simon Says Stamp and Show would like to see our 'kraft' offerings.  I made a hanger using various type of kraft and corrugated card.

Passport to Adventure

Out of a Hat Creations are asking for transport this week as their challenge theme.  So here is my little TH car, off on it's passport to adventure.

The background is a piece of wood which has been subjected to brayered grunge paste and coloured with nougat, stone and French roast fresco paints.

Believe in Yourself

I had to have a play with my new set of LP009 stamps which Mrs PaperArtsy sent me as my blog prize from last week.  As the image is rather large I used a #10 tag, coloured with vanilla then haystack fresco paints adding touches of blood orange once dried.  I stamped the fringe again across the top of the tag and hi-lighted with white posca pen.  Image is coloured with distress ink pens.  And the rub ons are from TH Words collection.

Alternative Canvas

Carol created a fab canvas over on the PA blog, I pretty much followed what she did apart from my wings are shrink plastic and not cracked as I don't have that TH die.

Over at Stampotique this week they have an anything but a card theme, so I'm popping this over there too!!!

A Tag of Beauty

Carol has been back on the PA blog this week teasing us with a tag book which you can see here.  It looked too complicated for me, so I just stuck to making a tag (no surprise there then!!) and she even managed to talk me into a bit of bling - bottom of the stamped tassels!!

I loved the look of tags 3 and 4, so I sort of did a bit of a combo!!

I would also like to enter into Our Creative Corner.
List A - Ribbon - Faux Lace
List B - Wood - the buttons
List C - Inks - Paints

Fathers Day Card

PanPastelUK are asking for a male themed project this week for their challenge, so I thought I'd show one of the fathers day cards I made.

Oriental Tag

Helen has chosen the recipe of red, text/book paper and an embellishment over on Dragons Dream TIO challenge blog this week.  This combination shouted oriental to me, so here's my tag.

The trim on the bottom is 'German' text book paper, didn't have any Chinese / Japanese, but you can't really notice as it's covered in red portfolio pastel and black acrylic paint.  Embellishments are obviously the gems on the cheeks.

A La Dina Wakley Style

I had this Dina Wakley book on pre-order for what seemed like ages!!  When I got back from my skiing holiday it was here waiting for me, but apart from flicking though it at the time, I haven't really done anything else with it, until today that is!!!

This page took my eye, if you have the book it's on page 119.  I had visions of using my new PA mini for the faces and one of the ArtistCellar pod stencils from the set I won.

And here it is.  I used pumpkin soup fresco paint through the stencil and coloured the circles with sky fresco, another new buy last Sunday!!  I was extremely brave and wrote the script myself!!

Page 123 also took my fancy, but then I do love that lonely girl image and use her quite a lot.

And here we are. The altered orange colour is a Claudine Hellmuth Studio paint and the blue is baltic blue from the fresco range along with the lighter blue which is sky.

These were great fun to make!!!

Precious Moments

The theme over at Simon Says Stamp and Show this week is buttons, from one to a whole handful.  This is the smaller of the 3 mdf plaque sizes, base coated in snowflake, coloured with beach hut, lime light, south pacific and hey pesto.

My intention was to stamp the LP image and colour it white to re-stamp it, but it came out so well the first time, I didn't bother.  The fringe on the bottom is from a part of a stamp on the LP003 plate and I used black enamel accent to hi-light the circles for a bit of texture!!  And then of course I added the buttons to fit in with the challenge!!

Hobby House also have an anything goes theme this month, so I'm hopping over there to enter too!!!

Faux Metal Hanger

Over at Stampotique this week they are asking to see some faux metal and Stampotique stamps, so I decided to make a hanger.

I  used a mix of TH metallic distress stains and paints to colour the frame along with black, to give it a metal look. The brick wall patterned paper has been stamped with the bla bla bla stamp.  Rocky has been stamped in black stazon onto a piece of acetate and placed a couple of layers higher than the background paper.

Stampbord Squares

I coloured these 2" square pieces of stampbord with the mop up fresco paints from the plaque I showed a couple of days ago.

I stamped one with a TH image and the other with a Dina Wakley image using black stazon.

Using the scraper tool I went in to reveal some of the white.  I might go back to the trees and do a bit more revealing!!!

Tag Book & Tags

I folded an A4 file folder into 4 and then folded one of the longer ends to make the pockets and put some grunge paste through some stencils.

And then again on the other side.

I painted them with fresco paints.  Added TH images with black stazon and covered the pockets with patterned paper which I picked up in Michaels on my holiday.

I used Dina Wakley images to decorate the tags.  The backgrounds were coloured with distress inks and I used a white posca pen to hi-light various parts on each tag.

And this is my finished book complete with tags.

I made this as Out of a Hat Creations are asking to see our tag books this week, with or without tags!!

What's Your Poison?

Over at the PaperArsty blog France is back with her last project of the week, she's made a potions holder, see how she did it here.

I more or less followed what she did except I used a piece of wood instead of a canvas.  The GP background gives an amazing texture by using the brayer.

#12 Plaque Collage

I ordered a PA fresco paint in blood orange from CVC's as PA didn't have any at the show on Sunday, they'd run out, and wow it's an absolutely gorgeous colour, a real thick rich red.  So I based coated on of the large mdf plaques. They are roughly the size of the #12 tags but are about 1cm longer.  I added various other colours of fresco to create the background.

I did the bump technique with the circles stencil top right using squid ink for the bottom and snowflake over the top.  Bottom left is just snowflake through the stencil and the PA mini script is stamped in snowflake too.

I stamped the two LP images in black stazon and then coloured them in with snowflake and stamped them again over the top of the white.

I added further background images in black stazon and then a few gems to finish it off.

PanPastelUK have an anything goes theme this week.

Distress that Chest

Over at the PA blog France is back, this time she is distressing a chest of drawers see here, I didn't have any so settled for a chest!!  I used baltic blue for the base, gave it a thin coat of crackle paste and then put guacamole over the top, once dried I sanded it down to distress it further.  This also gave it a great smooth finish to stamp on.  I used the script Ink and the Dog background image stamped in timber brown stazon.

For the frame I used chipboard. Applied grunge paste, dried it, coloured it initially with cut grass Dylusions ink spray, boy was that bright, so then came the magic. Yesterday at Doncaster Dome I picked up a bottle of green olives fresco paint because I actually wanted blood orange but it was sold out, and OMGosh, wow, I just love that colour, it's gorgeous!!  Then over the top I applied a generous amount of olive bronze treasure gold.  The PA image was stamped in timber brown stazon and slightly coloured with ripe persimmon distress ink.

And a close up of the crackle and sanding and stamping!!!

Doncaster Dome

So after hitting the MDF Man we headed off to the PA stand to see Michelle and Leandra hard at work - well that's what they called it anyway!!

Where I bumped into Sue with a basket full of goodies!!!

The stall was buzzing, it was a pretty busy morning.

Then we bumped into Kate and hubby, so I got Sue and Maz to jump in for a photo.

Then still at the PA stand Lesley came running over to me, we've been tweeting but not actually met yet.

And then who should show up but Emma and Tracie.  Chatting to Leandra whilst Michelle was beavering away!!!

We stepped away from the PA stand and bumped into Lesley again, so Emma introduced herself and I grabbed a photo.

And finally at the end of the day back to the PA stand to pick up my tag that Michelle had been making for me all day - bless her, she did keep getting interrupted - lol.

This is the front using the fab LP stamps, grunge paste, blues in the fresco range, treasure gold and distress inks.

And this is what she wrote on the back!!!!

And here she is giving one of her samples to Sue as she wanted to know about grunge paste.

This is what Leandra really gets up to at these shows!!!!

And finally, this is what I bought!!  Just about cleaned the MDF Man out!! More fresco paints, hangers and shrink plastic.  Once Upon a Stamp had some fab bargains on their paint (red), stampbord, tools and moulds. Picked up some gems and charms from The Stampman and lace, gems and cotton reels from Hobby House.

It was yet again a great show and lovely to meet up with peeps.
