Friendly Plastic

Thanks to the extreme weather conditions, it gave me a chance to have a play with one of my purchases from Friday.  Please don't be too harsh as I had no idea what I was doing apart from the fact that there was a lady demo-ing it at the show.  But unfortunately her expertise was very limited as she had no facilities to have any hot or cold water.  She was talking through most things, so two days later, it's hard to remember what she said and she wouldn't let anyone take any photos either!!!

As you can see I decided to try and make something with one of the above samples.  I tried to incorporate some of the items I got on Friday.  I used some hand dyed scrim, hand dyed jute, hand dyed bamboo fibres.  I peeled off a layer of one of the silk rods, added some copper shavings and a couple of skeleton leaves from my stash.  Everything is attached to a piece of green mountboard.  I did try a piece of background with a pattern but it was too busy.

Unfortunately due to the weather, I had to have the light on to take the photo and the grid looks really shiny but it is quite a matt finish.

Great makes unlike me you clearly did not get it to hot it goes all gooey and unworkable if you do that. Know from other shows the woman demoning Liz Welch is the queen of friendly plastic. Neet is pretty dam good with it as well. xx Zoe

No it wasn't Liz Welch demo-ing at the show Zoe, it was a blonde lady from 'the frame workshop'

Looks brilliant to me! When I saw Liz, she very kindly allowed photos, unlike the mean lady you saw! lol! xx

She said she couldn't allow photos because all the work wasn't hers, but when you look on the website, all the things in the gallery are what were displayed at the show. Been as though she was demo-ing then to me, she was making it and it was her work!!!! Never mind, some people are funny and don't like to share!!!!! But to me, that's what it's all about.

It definietely wasn't me demoing at the show, otherwise you could have taken your photos with pleasure. I am busy doing Create and Craft shows on TV, the next one is on 6th Dec at 9am. Check out my blog or website for a gallery full of ideas, projects and inspiration, but I think you are doing very well discovering your own path with Friendly Plastic

For someone who doesn't really know what they are doing you have made some fabulous pieces, Sam. I watched Liz Welch's C&C show last time she was on and highly recommend tuning in or recording on 6th - she has some great tips.
