Celebrations Using Metallics

Happy Halloween - yes I know it's only January, but it fitted the theme!! The background is an embossed piece of black card coloured with a mix of every colour of metallic pan pastels. I added an image, torn tissue wrap, wire and words.

PanPastelUk have a theme of celebrations using metallics.

Happy Birthday Emma

Happy Birthday Emma.  It's Emma's birthday today and she loves this TH dragonfly stamp, or at least I hope she does as she now owns it!!  She also has a love of pink.  I couldn't just use pink so had to tone it down with a bit of blue for the background piece!!

This is a close up of the stamped image in the Utee with various pink and purple colours of perfect pearls.

And finally a close up of the stamped happy birthday in the brilliance triple metallics pad.

ATB - Oriental Style

I loved making my Linda Cain, PA, Altered Trading Block yesterday, so much so that I decided to make another today. I made this one slightly bigger. I mixed south pacific with beach hut for the background.

I coloured the squares with tango, pumpkin soup and yellow submarine and stamped the LP oriental images in black archival. This time as the squares are larger, I decided to leave some white space.

I dug out some metal feet, an idea-ology fastener and a large Chinese coin charm.

The feet proved to be too heavy for the box, so I went with the wooden tiles like I'd previously used.

Added some gems, this was done whilst it was flat ie before I assembled the box.

A view from the side.

The coin with the fastener for the lid.

And finally a top view.

Again, love how this came out.

I'm also entering into Artful Times as they have a theme of Oriental ' Year of the Horse, but they have said you don't have to include a horse!!

Altered Trading Block - ATB

The new ATC is an ATB as introduced by the wonderful Linda Cain over on the PA Blog. You can actually buy a Sizzix die for the boxes but I just made my own. Coloured them in a mix of blood orange and tango.  The squares are coloured with lime light, hey pesto and zesty zing.

I stamped the LP images and TH scroll in black archival onto the squares.  Once dry I gave them a dash of colour with orange and red posca pens, followed by the white for the cheeks. I edged them in black.

Now to the decs and feet.  I decided to use some wooden tiles, a clock face and a knob.

I coloured the sides of the wooden tiles black to make the feet.

Box assembled with feet and knob.

Another of the sides.

And another.

A view of a couple of the sides.

And from the other side.

The next.

And the last.

The top.

And finally the top angled to show one of the sides.

Considering they are hand measured and hand scored the two pieces fitted together perfectly and I had great fun with them.

Sticky Silver Foil Embossed Backgrounds

I've been playing with foam and kraft card covered in sticky silver foil.

And Fresco chalk paints...

And TH distress paints.

I then ran them through my new to me M-Bossabilities folder - so trendy. Top 2 are distress paints, bottom 2 are the frescos.

And this is the reverse side of the folder. Again top 2 distress paints and bottom 2 frescos.

Then I took my sanding block and sanded back to reveal the silver colour from the foil.

And did the same with the other pieces.

Shall be back when I've turned them into something!!

Jo Inspired House

Jo Myhill is back on the PA Blog with a DT spot and she's decorated a wooden plaque in the shape of a house which you can see here. I used the above wooden shape for my make.

I pretty much followed what she did with the technique and colours, but used different minis.

Instead of using UTEE on the heart, I gave it three coats of PA glossy glaze and as I'd used adirondack wild plum to stamp the flourish it reacted with the glaze.

Here is a close up of the heart and flourish image.

I'm also entering into this weeks PanPastelUk challenge which is to use a base other than card or paper.

**Edited**
Just for the record, no pink was used in this make!!!!

Atc Layers Swap

Using the remained of my Day 1 Ellen Vargo background courtesy of the PA blog, as previously stated I wanted to use it to make some atc's as the theme for the swap is layers.  So they have had at least 4 layers of paint, a layer of grunge paste, treasure gold, dylusions sprays flicked onto them, the image and wire or card, and they were all mounted onto black card, so lots of layers.

Abstract Cards

Day 2 over at the PA blog saw Ellen showing how to create fabulous cards using the brayer technique which you can see here. I more or less followed what she did.

Added some TH tissue tape and a bit of random stamping with the PA minis using stazon ink and used mini paint lids stencil with a mix of haystack and autumn fire fresco.

I wanted to use some bold images for the centre pieces and decided to give my LP images a rest and instead chose those by Dina Wakley and Michelle Ward.

I stamped the happy birthday onto white card, distressed the edges and coloured with black ink. I mounted two onto red card and two onto black.

Close up of one of the images, love how the colours of the background show through the script.

Here they are stood up side by side.

Anything Is Possible

Still following the brayering technique of day 1 over on the PA blog, I decided to use a whole sheet of card and cut it up as I need 3 Atc's for a swap and the theme is layers. I was also more sparse with the GP and used a more open stencil.

I added stamping in vanilla fresco paint and used aquamarine treasure gold over some of the GP.

Then I added my Hero Arts flower heads with an upside down prestud for the centre. Attached the string with mini staples. Mounted each individual tag onto one piece of card and scored the middle to create a diptych.

And this is it stood up.

I'm also entering into this months Arty Inklings challenge which is Springtime showing texture, some stamping and green.

Abstract Tag

Over at the PA blog there is a new designer this week, Ellen Vargo.  She made an abstract tag using a brayer to apply the paint and create the background, to see what she did check out the blog here. I pretty much followed what she did using guacamole, limelight, hey pesto and south pacific paints and the TH burlap layered stencil.

I added alphabet letters in vanilla fresco. I used wow powder to edge the tag and sectioned it off using my white posca pen. Aquamarine treasure gold and finally the images and words.

I think I put a bit too much GP on the tag as it covers up too much of the background, so may try this again with less stencilling!!

Tissue Paper Backgrounds

White scrunched up tissue paper was glued on this atc and once dried rubbed over with black archival ink, added an image mounted on a piece of card and a couple of words.

Black scrunched up tissue paper was glued to this atc and once dried I rubbed over it lightly with pewter treasure gold. Added the image, watch parts, washer and prestud, mounted the word onto black card.
