Bees Wax Canvas - Dezinaworld Challenge - Wings

June over at Dezinaworld is holding a Challenge with a fabulous prize attached. Check it out here. All you have to do is create a piece of art around the theme of wings.

I decided to do something I wouldn't normally do, I wanted to do something different, so I based my canvas on the colour blue, not a favourite of mine at all, but I am pleased with how it's turned out.

I used acrylic dabbers to cover the canvas, aqua and cloudy blue and stream to frame it. I laid out my various pieces, coloured the silver no 2 and the small fragment square (which Caz kindly shared with me and Hilda at our meet last week) with stream alcohol ink, used the dictionary definition of wings in the background, coloured a green admit one ticket with blue paint, scrunched it up and tore it in half, added a couple of paper flowers, an image and quote from Lisa's Altered Art and chalked a wing. I covered the whole piece in bees wax.

This is a side view, all the sides are the same. The pattern is stamped with broken china distress ink.

Love this Sam!! I have a pot of beeswax that remains un-opened. I think you might have inspired me to get it out

Kove the canvass Sam, and it's always good to work with something that is out of your comfort zone. It's rewarding when it turns out well as it did with the canvass. Hope to see you in the week.

Gosh isn't she cute!! This seems to be a popular challenge...so good luck I hope you win!! I love the fat canvasses the best for these projects.

ps: Wilkos have 4 square thin canvasses for approx £2.50 at the mo!
