Fragile Papers - Drama Queen

PA have changed their challenges to themes and the first one is fragile papers. I stuck a piece of German text to a piece of card, once dry spritzed it and peeled away the edges, spread gesso here and there and brayed cherry red over parts. I drew a heart onto music paper, cut it out, added gesso, coloured with quinacridone burnt orange media paint, stuck it on and outlined in black smudgy pencil. I added a piece of cotton scrim also coloured in quinacridone burnt orange.

I stamped the Dina image onto printed script tissue paper, cut it out and stuck it onto the heart. Finally I added the letters.

Fragile Papers - Tags

Over on the PA blog Clare has made a tag using fragile papers which you can see here. I pretty much did what she did but started at the adding paint step. The top tag is coloured with gelatos and the bottom with fresco paints.

Then I forgot to take any more photos before I got to this stage!!  I stamped the Dina Wakley gals onto text paper and cut them out.

And then added some fibres to finish them off.

Another Master Board - Media Acrylics

I stuck some random pieces of tissue tape onto a piece of heavy weight white card.

Using a brayer, I started with cobalt teal hue Decoart media acrylic paint.

For the next layer I added ultramarine blue.

Then primary magenta.

And finally a tiny amount of dioxazine purple.

And I added some marks using carbon black and titanium white, an old credit card and some bottle tops.

All paints are from the DecoArt media range.

Another Couple of Jump Start Gelli Journals

I made these journals for two young ladies that I've not met but they are very special to someone that I have met. The only problem was, they both love pink!! So we settled on a pink and purple one and a pink and red one.

I was quite surprised how many pink beads I had - lol.

Inside pages of the pink and purple one.

The idea is that you leave lots of white space so they can be used a journals.

So they can be doodled, drawn, painted and stamped in.

And the pink and red one.

Again lots of white space for them to fill in.

All I ask is that they both enjoy them and I want so see evidence of them being used.

I also made them a pink keyring each, but I forgot to take a photo of those!!

I'd just like to mention Patti Tolley Parrish again as she was the original inspiration for making them.

Master boards Using Media Acrylics

I first came across this fab idea when I saw Ellen Vargo demonstrate it on you tube. I've added a few pieces of T!m's tissue tape to a piece of heavy weight card.

I then brayered on pyrrole orange Decoart media acrylic paint.

Then a splash of hansa yellow.

Followed by primary magenta.

And finally napthol red.

Then I used carbon black and titanium white to add some interest using various sized lids and an old phone card.

All the paints are from DecoArts media range.

Wooden Houses

Martin cut the corners off a couple of pieces of wood for me to make houses and as I got my order of DecoArt media acrylics I decided to try them out. I gesso'd them and gave the bottoms a couple of coats of paint, one in pyrrole orange and the other in hansa yellow.

I masked the bottom off and painted the tops in ultramarine blue and primary magenta.

I then randomly added some stencilling using various colours of media acrylics and stencils. 

Next I outlined some of the stencilling using posca pens and added dots etc with more paint and the end of a paintbrush. Once totally dry I am going to give them a coat of varnish.

Gelli Jump Start Journals

This year I made some gelli jump start journals inspired by Patti Tolley Parrish.  She made her debut in the November edition of Cloth, Paper, Scissors and kindly made a series of youtube videos to go along with it to show how they are made, so I had a go.  They have been given as Christmas presents this year.

I included a tag in with each one with an explanation on the back.

And this is how it read.

Each journal has 3 signatures and each signature has 5 double sided pages.

As you can see some pages have lots of colour.

Some pages have lots of white space.

The idea being that you use them as a journal, but aren't faced with a blank white page.

A bit of something to get you started.

You could either doodle in the whites space or

gesso over the page and add your own background.

The pages make great starting points.

I hand stamped some tissue paper to make my own Christmas paper to wrap the journals in.

A Quick Tag

Just needed to have a quick play. Sprayed a tag with magenta media mister, dried it and then spritzed on the white shimmer.

Emma had bought me a Dina Wakley stamp plate which the words are from and Lin R had sent me lots of fab pieces of fabric with images on, which I machine stitched onto the tag.

Christmas Candles
