Pottery Classes

This is the very thing that I made on the wheel. It's not meant to be anything, I was just playing and seeing what I could do with the lump of clay.

And for my second attempt I tried to keep it uniform and decided it would make a good t-light holder as I created a ridge in the bottom for it to sit in.

I used a coaster cutter to cut 4 pieces of clay.  I stamped into them and after the first blast in the kiln I then glazed them and then they went back in again.

And this one is stamped the flower and stamped around all the sides, and after the first blast in the kiln I painted the flower in different colours of glazes and added small pieces of glass the all of the edges. I left the surround of the flower glaze-less.  I just love how it has turned out as the glass has also crackled.

I have signed up again for it starting in September, Covid permitted!

Angel Trinket Box

I watched a FB live on the I love mixed media group and Denise was demoing this mould, so I ordered one (along with some other bits!)

Used fast cast resin in the moulds.

Look how fabulous the details come out.

And the lid, which is solid.

Then I painted it with black gesso, once dried I gave it a coat of anthracite deluxe paste by Pentart.

And I felt it needed some decoration, but didn't want to smother the pot, so I decided just to put something on the lid.

I painted the resin with silver metallic paint and then did the heart in metallic russet Jacquard Lumiere Paint.

I gave everything a coat of varnish including the inside.

And it's finished.

Altered Paint Brushes

Found a pack of three paint brushes to alter.

I used clay to make the face on this one.

I was hoping this one would turn out like an angel, or something along those lines.

And of course, I couldn't forget the darker side.

Used black powertex and stuck everything down.

As you can see, I am no good at creating faces from clay, nor colouring them!!!

From the darker side, this one is in a gothic style.

And finally, my attempt at an angel!!

More Pen / Paint Pots

Yes, we've emptied two more coffee tins!

I decided to use some scraps of linen fabric as it has a nice texture. I also pulled out some resin and clay pieces to decorate with.

Once I'd covered the linen in powertex and put it on the tins I added the embellishments.

I accidently picked up the bronze but I really wanted to use the black, so I have one of each.

Then I went back in with the powertex and painted over all of the embellishments and as you can see, they cover pretty well even though some are resin.

Then I dry brushed the fabric on the tins and it didn't matter if I got some on the embellishments as I'm going to paint them in different colours.

I used a combination of silver and peacock on the dark pot.

And purples, pinks and red on the brown pot with the flowers.

Cutlery Plaque

A quarter of an A3 clipboard and a small fork and knife.

Then I pulled out a few embellishments to play with.

Started to lay them out.

I decided to stencil onto the substrate and then started adding the elements.

Building up the layers, I stuck them on with powertex.

Next I gave the whole piece a coat of black powertex.

And then I dry brushed with white powertex.

I used 4 - 5 different colours in blues, pinks and purples. I also used a brown to give some shadows.

Finally I used white gold wax to hi-light some areas.

Industrial Tin

Look what I came across in my stash whilst looking for something else!

It measures approx 5" x 5".

I ran some sticky silver tape through an embossing folder and stuck it on the lid and sides of the tin.

Then I completely covered it in black powertex and wiped it back before it totally dried.  I used the wiped off powertex on another project.

And I did the sides as well.

I pulled out a few resin pieces and laid them out.

I coloured them with brass treasure gold and mounted them on the lid of the tin.

From a slightly different view.

I wanted to cover the label up on the back as I couldn't get it off, so I stuck an old advert over it to hide it.

And I simply cut a couple of pieces of paper to size and stuck them inside.  I did think about decorating the insides but then I wouldn't be able to put anything in there, so I just stuck with the papers.

And just to show that the lid does close.
