Objection Over Ruled

This is a deep 4 x 4 canvas that I was playing around with yesterday using the Dylusion paints and making marks with the end of a paintbrush, bottle tops and an old credit card.

I took a while to find the right image as I didn't want to cover too much of it up and I also didn't want to stamp onto tissue, so I eventually settled on this PA Mini and a couple of words.

Like I said it's a deep edged canvas, so here are the edges.

Over at FSC they have a new theme of people or person, so I am hoping my head counts for a person but not sure if you have to include a body or not. I'm sure someone will let me know!!!

And the Love to Create challenge theme this week is mixed media.

Ink Splodge

Another double journal spread using the Dylusions paint, lime, grape and teal. Andy Skinner and Dylusion stencils, Ellen Vargo (PA) and Finn stamps and the fab ink splodge which was die cut and sent to me by Lesley, I just had to use it.

Purple and Circles

Even though this looks pink, it really is purple. Bottom layer Fresco Spanish mulberry paint, bottle tops stamped in purple Dylusion paint and over stamped with white eco friendly paint. Insides of circles coloured with shades of purple gelatos. TH quote stamped in purple stazon, cut into strips, edged and glued on.

Dragons Dream TIO have a theme of purple and circles. You have to use a tag and at least one real stamp.

Skulls on a Bottle

My second rescue of the day from the recycled bin

Stripped of the stickers and covered all over in DecoArt black modelling paste and I used the pallet knife to create texture.

Once I'd covered the bottle, I had a huge problem, I loved it so much, I didn't want to cover it up!!

Painted a frame die cut in venetain gold dazzling metallics and the skull in silver sage. I stamped a mini PA script over the frame and black embossed it. Added the chain and the skull charm.

I wanted to bring out the texture so tickled the whole bottle with renaissance treasure gold. You can't really see it here due to the poor light, but it looks really good in real life.

And I left the back plain, although this is actually the front of the bottle and the gold circle you can see is the Bacardi badge which is engraved onto the bottle, so I left it as it was.

Another entry for this weeks PaperArsty challenge of bottles.

Bottles Up!!!

After a rummage around in the glass recycling box I rescued this maple syrup bottle for the challenge over on PaperArtsy this week.

Gave it a coat of chalky paint, wasn't sure how this would stick but it was fine.

Several coats of paint later and after some stenciling, this is the front.

Added a symbol from a stencil on the back mixing raw umber media paint with white modeling paste and before adding the string which was coloured with gathered twigs distress stain, I gave the bottle a couple of coats of ultra matte medium varnish.

It comes in 3's

Over at stamps and stencils, they are asking for 3 of a kind. How many triples can you spot?

Close up of the main focal images.

Party, Party - You're All Invited

It's a sad time over at Artful Times as this is their last challenge ever, so being as I was a former founder, I felt it only right to say goodbye and party along with them.

So I am inviting you all to party and play along with this last challenge.

Paint by Numbers

Just had to crack open my Dylusion paints as I've had them since Monday!!!  I used the PINK and the orange for the background, they are lush and blend together really nicely. Using a large number stencil I used the blue to stencil through. I added lots more images and stenciling to incorporate a number theme as over at That's Crafty they wanted to see numbers this week.

Old Favourites

Over at FSC they have a theme of old favourites, so I decided to see how many I could use. The page on the right started off as a pan pastel page just to wipe off the excess from the sponges. So I did the same to the left page and gave them both a coat of diluted transparent yellow oxide.

I added lots of layers, including stencilling, stamping, more transparent and acrylic paints and tissue tape until I was happy with the background. Then I added my favourite DW stamp, lonely girl.

Close up of the stamping using PA minis, a couple of different scripts and the splatter and also a couple of the DW larger scribble script stamps, together with the TH idea-ology tissue tape.

DecoArt media paints, watered down quin gold, quin burnt orange, cobalt teal hue, over tissue tape, stamping and black gesso through a stencil.

Tag with a TH stamped quote which again is an old favourite, especially as it's on wood!!

Steampunk Surprise

This was one of the first pages I started in my journal as I had excess modelling paste so just put it through a stencil and then as I had spare paint etc, I just kept adding it to this page and finally got to this stage.

I stamped random cogs in timber brown stazon and coloured the image with distress ink markers.

I blended the image into the page with a brown gelato.

I hi-lighted the stencilled texture with turquoise metalic lustre.

Finally I added silver metallic lustre to hi-light the textures on the page.

That's Crafty have a theme of steampunk surprise so I am entering my page.

A Rainbow of Colours

This is the first double page spread that I've ever done. I painted stripes of colours in yellow, red, blue, purple and orange media acrylic over a coat of gesso. Added modeling paste through a stencil, stamped some words onto tissue paper and stuck them on with matte medium, added random splodges of white crackle paint and made a black wash from the media misters. Added some drippage with the treasure chalky paint. Played around adding bits of colour until I was happy, then added white script stamping from a PA mini with everlasting chalky paint, covered with a layer of Andy Skinner mucky wash to tone down the white. Used the white posca pen to doddle and hi-light and finally went over some or the raised stencilled areas with turquoise metallic lustre.

All products are DecoArt.

PaperArtsy have a challenge this week of words, so I am entering my pages into this challenge.

Kate Crane Journal Class

Well this time Lin and Chris made it, but not without issues and being an hour and a half late, they were caught up in the Leeds marathon!!! Kate is just catching Lin up where we were at.

Lunch time, just look at the size of that bun. Chris is carrying on, playing catch up.

Chris's pinky blue page, although she does paint over it with dark purple later on - lol.

And Lin deciding where to position her cup cakes - don't ask!!

The trio at lunchtime break

The four of us just after we'd packed up to set off for the pub and home

My morning page, although this is nothing how it was meant to be!!! But hey, what's new - lol. Used Dylusion and Dina Wakley paints, they work brilliantly together.

And the afternoon page, which consisted of finger painting, again with the Dylusions and Dina paints. Need to find an image of sorts to finish this one off.

Thanks to all for a lovely day.

Hot Pink & Orange

This page fits nicely into this weeks Artful Times theme. Unfortunately it is their penultimate challenge, which is quite sad as I was one of the founders of the challenge site way back in March 2012. Please pop over and join in if you can.

Sprays, splats and drippage

Over at PaperArtsy this week they are asking for sprays, so using sprays of all kinds but only in greens and purples and some stencils, I created this background.

Then I added some random stamping using T!m Holtz images in black archival and finally added some lines in olive green stazon from a Hero Arts stamp.

In triplicate

Another journal page again inspired by one of Dyan Reaveley's videos.  I used a baby wipe to cover the page with the DecoArt dazzling metallics in festive green which is the lighter, then added a darker green called crystal green and finally blended in a chalky finish paint in escape.

I used a stencil and some Dylusion sprays, turquoise, fresh lime and cut grass, using the positive and the negative. I also used some DecoArt chalky paints and AS stencils to create more interest.

I'm entering this page into this weeks PaperArtsy challenge as they have a theme of sprays.
