Little Monsters

I made one of these each day over Christmas, but today is the first day we have seen any sun to take a half decent photo. The spikes and some of the balls have been wet felted as I wanted to experiment with them and add them into my needle felting.

All three of the spikes and the two blue balls were wet felted and attached after they'd dried.

The spikes and the pink balls are wet felted. The blue and black balls are dry felted onto the body.

The four spikes and two small balls are wet felted, everything else is needle felted.

Inspiration for all of these was taken from this photo on pintrest by Amanda Graham. However, I am still unsure as to whether they were wet or dry felted or a combination of both.

The Woodland King

After watching the Sarafina forest peoples youtube tutorial, I decided to have a go myself. However, I did lots of things differently as for some reason I really don't like the idea of using wire in my makes.

I wet felted the arms in the hope of making them stiffer.

I made the crown from card as for the moment, I don't know where to start from the felting angle and whilst out with Fraz on our walk this morning, we picked up some twigs.

Skater Boy

Meet Skater Boy. I thought I'd try another doll.

His skaterboard and hat aren't attached.

And from the back.

Having a play on his skateboard.

And from the back.

Then he went for it and scooted along.

He is now wearing his hat to the back!

Oooh wonder what trick he is going to perform next!

Gnome

As no-one knew what at Tomte was on my post of yesterday, I decided to make a gnome.

He has red hands and red feet, a fluffy white beard and a big button nose.

His hat is a blend of the green and red colours.

He is laughing in hysterics and kicking his little feet.

Felted Tomtes

I decided to try to make a couple of tomtes and here they are. A tomte is a mythological creature from Nordic folklore typically associted with the winter solstice and the Christmas season.

This one has locks on the top of the hat.

And as this one is a lot smaller and he also has big ears, I left his hat plain.

I took them outside to get some photos in the sprinkle of snow we had but I sat them on glass dishes as I didn't want to get the locks wet.

And this is what they look like from the back.

Roy

Meet Roy, my first attempt at a doll character. He stands approx 10" tall.

He is not without his issues, for starters his hands are too big!

He is very flexible though. His arms and legs move independently.

He can sit, but he can't stand on his own.

Here is a close up of his face. His ears don't match and his nose could probably be a bit smaller!

His clothes are made from batting and pre-felt.

Thanks once again to Kay and her fabulous tutorials.

Parker

Meet Parker who likes to play with his ball.

He doesn't like to give it up.

And now he wants to play, his tail is wagging.

As you can see, he is very flexible.

Then he met Rhufus and George.

All playing together in the park.

Winston

Body and limbs assembled, head at the ready.

Meet Winston, my big bunny.

He is posing on top of the chimnea.

And his little button bunny tail.

And just to prove that he can stand up on his own, here he is on the table.

And another one.
