Monster Eye Key Chains

I cast some monster eyes from resin and a fab set of moulds.

Then I painted them.

I glazed the eyes, added a screw hook and attached a keychain.

Up-cycled Prosecco Bottle

This time I used an empty Prosecco bottle.  Laid the pieces on top.

Powertexed the bottle then using the powertex, stuck the pieces on and coated them.

I used pigments, metallic paints and waxes to colour it.

And on this one I left the back plain as I wanted to show off the diamond shapes in the glass.

A close up of the front in different shades of purples.

Up-cycled Bacardi Bottle

This time around I used an empty bacardi bottle. Again I laid my pieces out and stuck them on with black powertex.  I'd previously coated the cherub in copper metallic flakes, so I stuck it on last so as not to get it too covered in powertex.

Then I coloured it in various shades of copper.

And this is the back, simple but effective.

Up-cycled Gin Bottle

I'm taking part in an up-cycle challenge over on the Australia Powertex FB group. So what better to up-cycle than empty alcohol bottles.  Laid out the design and used black powertex to stick them down and gave everything a coat.

This is the other side and I've used pigments and waxes to colour it up.

On the sides I added easy structure texture paste and added a very large skull bone. I did the same on both sides.

And again, the front (or back) has been again coloured with pigments and waxes.

Steampunk Insect

I started off with a paper mache insect, and then painted it with white powertex.

Then I added some resin steampunk pieces and painted everything in a coat of black powertex.

Then I coloured it with waxes and pigments.

Skull & Snake Plaque

Placed some pieces together until I was happy with the composition. I used the back of a cut up A3 clipboard for the substrate.

I glued them all down and added some texture pastes to the background.

Then I used pigments and waxes to colour it.

Close up of the layers.

Alcohol Inks Workshop

I finally got to the alcohol inks workshop today after waiting since last September due to us going into lockdown again.

So the first thing we did was to have a play and a dabble.  We were asked to try and move the ink around using an air blower and isopropyl.  The first attempt was to create a line and the second just to blow in all different directions.  I wanted to play with the metallics too as I know they act differently.

Next I tried different colours and used the air to move the ink to where I wanted it to. Different colour inks move in different ways.

Then once we were happy with our trial runs, we used an A4 piece of yupo to create our framed piece.  This is what I chose to do.

Skull Candle Display

Stencilled modelling paste onto an 8" circle of mdf.

Made some skull casts from my homemade mould.

A friend sent me three huge church pillar candles.

Using the smallest candle as a centre piece, I created this using the skulls and various cogs and gears.

Each of the skulls has a different design.

And a view from the above of the different sides.

Love the gothic look of this one brought out by the purples.

Having looked at the photos I decided that the candle needed something else, so I added the silver coloured strip around the top.

Cross Skulls

I used quite a lot of resin shapes to create this piece.

Exactly the same process, stencilled and then pieces stuck down with gel medium and painted with black gesso.

Coloured with a coppery, fiery, orangey / red pallet.

And in the greenery.

Gears and a Rear

Martin cut an A3 board into 3 for me and this is how I used the first one.

Placed everything down and once dry, painted with black gesso.

I decided to use a colour pallet of green and gold.

Jigsaw Piece

After a mammoth resin casting session I finally got to play with some of the pieces.  I came across this rather large chipboard jigsaw shape and laid some of the piece on it until I was happy with the layout.

I put modelling paste through a stencil, attached the resin pieces with gel medium and once dry, painted everything with black gesso.

I used various colours and mixes of treasure gold, alchemy waxes and metallic lustres to colour the project.

And outside in the greenery.
