Broken

Powertexed a block of polystyrene and cut out some arm holes.

I painted the hair and then used transparent powertex to stick it onto the head.

A view of the hair from the back.

And from the front mounted on a piece of slate.

Hands Talk

Created this from making a clay.  Rolled it out, stamped into it and then laid it over a paper mask for the head and drew around my own hand in the clay and stamped into it.

It was made in two pieces and then stuck together once the copper pigment had been applied.

The Thinking Man

I made an armature, bulked it out with tinfoil and then covered the foil with masking tape.

I mixed up some 3d flex, white powertex and some power sand.  I obviously didn't put enough sand in though as it cracked and I didn't really want it to, but never mind.

I painted a block of wood in white powertex too.

I stuck the hands together and his right elbow is also stuck to his knee.

Two Aged Cherubs

Not having much luck with the bone effect technique. I think it looks more like stone than bone!  I did use StoneArt on the piece of polystyrene that they are sitting on, but didn't quite get the bone effect on the cherubs.

Polystyrene Sculpture

Using up some more of the polystyrene, I cut the above piece in half.  Coated it in the remainder of the grey powertex from the skulls.  Once dry I added crackle paint and fibre paste to the left side piece and tar gel to the right piece.  I left it overnight to dry, then used my soldering tool to make the holes and finally I coloured it up until I was happy with the result.

Skull Stacker

Three plaster skulls painted with a mix of black and white powertex to make a grey.  Then stacked on top of each other and once dry coloured with silver pigment and varnish.  Finished off with gems in the eye sockets.

Halloween - Tea Light Holder

My nephew and his girlfriend have just moved into their first house together, so I rescued some pieces of polystyrene.

And as it's nearly the end of the month, I went for a Halloween theme.  This is the front with webs, skulls and spiders.

And the side with a skull and a web with spiders in.

I left the back pretty simple as you probably won't see much of it, but I did add gemstones in the eye sockets.

A mummy and a couple of skulls on the other side.

And as it's polystyren it's easy to cut into. I cut a hole in the top for a tea light to sit in.

Twig Basket Table Decoration

I blew up a balloon and covered it in cling film before I started dipping twigs into powertex and placing them on the balloon.

I completed it in stages until I was happy with the way it formed.

I left it about 3 days to dry solid before I deflated the balloon.

I coloured it with red and gold pigments.

I picked up this small bag of pot pourri just because of the colours.

I also used a kitchen roll tube to create a cup in the bottom to hold a led waxed candle and added half of the bag of potpourri.

And here it is in the semi dark with the candle turned on.

And finally in full darkness with the candle on.

Zombie Skull

So I watched the Bone Effects FB live demonstrated by Ashley of Powertex Australia.

Followed the steps, added the bister, wiped back...

Added more ivory, wiped back added more ivory, more bister and wiped back.

Added some head gear.

Decided to add red eyes.

Didn't like the red, so painted over them in white but added more red around the eyes.

Added a light inside the skull.  This was taken in total darkness with no lights, just the camera and tea light.

And this one was taken with the main light slightly on.

Another Mini Mannequin Request

I made the dress form in the same way as I've made all the others using black powertex and paper decoration.

The request was for a matt bottle green colour with gold flowers.

And from the back.

And the side with the flower at the waist.
