Over on the PA blog Ellen Vargo has been building up to an art journal page over the last 3 nights with her fab videos, which you can see here.
I pretty much followed what she did, using a sheet of card and a large tag, fresco paints and the stamp from EEV03.
Stamped the same image in black stazon over the scrap piece I'd used with the brayer.
Cut them out and decided where I wanted to place them. Added a couple of strips of number text paper.
Added strips of a map to this page.
Stuck them down and added the black lines to the map strips
And the text paper.
The next stage of the project was to WRITE some words, so I had a practise!!
So I bottled it a bit as I sketched out a square to write the words of the Picasso quote. I used the triangle way of lettering but think my pen was too thick. The white outline came out pretty good on this one though.
So I got brave and sketched out a circle, but could of done with starting the lettering a bit higher up. I used a different pen and it wasn't as black, so it doesn't look as bold as the lettering on the tag, but all was good!!
Another great fun project Ellen - thanks.

Great work Sam even if it's not a journal page!

This looks great, really effective! I think you've created such strong bold lettering: I always worry that writing my own text will not look professional enough, but yours looks fabulous on both projects. Julie Ann xxx

I am in awe of your lettering Sam! I can't even write normally these days as my hands seem to have a mind of their own as to which direction they want to take. You really do this style exceptionally well!
