Grunge Master Board Inspired by Jo

Over on the PA blog, Jo's been making a master board, to see what she did click here. I decided to use a piece of corrugated as my base and instead of text paper used a napkin.

Once dried, I gave it a coat of watered down vanilla fresco to tone it down a bit.

I then added the green and blues until I was happy with what I had, and added some stamping using the PA minis.

The centre piece I painted with Baltic blue and added guacamole by scraping with a credit card and distressed the edges and coloured with Hyde park.

I used some TH dies, some arrows, a wooden heart and a piece of embossed stencil to create the centre pieces.

And this is the assembled finished piece.

In the dead of the night...

When I was painting/writing with the GP I mixed up way too much, so quickly grabbed the nearest stencil and a piece of corrugated.

It sat there for a few days and then the PanPastelUk and Think Monday, Think Atc themes were revealed.  I painted the corrugated firstly in elephant fresco paint, then applied a coat of elephant mixed with black dress and finally another coat of black dress mixed with pewter.  I replaced the stencil and sponged through with French roast and then pewter treasure gold.  The moon was created with vanilla fresco paint and a spellbinders circle nestie.

Stamped the images and coloured them with new colours of distress markers.  The words and the fence have been coloured with extra dark grey pan pastel (820.2).

Steampunk Halloween

I've been playing with some of my new TH layered stencils which arrived in the week.  This is the ruler one embossed though the big shot and sanded back.

I did the same with the clocks on but embossed it onto a kraft tag.

Close up of the embossing.

I put the stencil back over the tag and coloured parts with iced spruce distress paint, from the winter collection which I also got earlier in the week.  It's gorgeous and gives it a steely blue effect.  I then went in with distress ink to colour the tag, vintage photo, walnut stain, gathered twig, aged mahogany and faded jeans.  The paint resists the ink.

I stamped the TH skull onto white card, tinted the bones, eyes and teeth again with iced spruce distress marker from the new set of colours.  I used gathered twig to colour the outer edges after they had been given the paper distresser treatment. I ended up giving him little gears for eyes!!

Close up of the painted and inked embossed part of the tag.

And finally the finished tag.

Tag Along have a theme of Steampunk Halloween for their challenge this week.

Clocks and Cogs

I decided to have another go at painting with grunge paste just like Liz did on her day #1 PA project this week. So I took a large mdf cog and set to it.

I gave it several layers of brown shades of fresco paints, Irish cream, mocha mousse, chocolate pudding and French roast.

Added stamping with PA minis, alphabet, mini bricks and flourish in black archival ink.

I then stamped the PA image from ink and the dog plate, wings #3 and one penny #4 although I now have this image in the wooden variety.  I cut them up and mixed them about a bit to create one main image. Water coloured the image with my new colours of distress markers, gathered twig and evergreen bough.

And putting it all together I used the pieces I'd previously created on a T!m Holtz CC102 day using UTEE to achieve the pitted effect on the clock face and the wings, and finally added a couple of metal pieces.

Sorry the photo is rubbish, but I missed out on buying a portable daylight lamp at the show on Sunday from Clarity stamps, and the weather here is torrential rain and extremely dark, so really could of done with it!!!

Colour Challenge

Emma and I are having another colour challenge, this time I chose the colours and elements.  Colours are as above and had to include script/text, at least one die cut and a stamped image.

I covered a piece of corrugated in TH patterned papers and cut a recess which I covered in text book paper.  I painted the tag, pediment die and frame in fresco inks, I mixed various colours until I got the one I wanted.  I then stamped some script in versamark ink, covered in sticky embossing powder, heated up and added black foil.

Stamped various other images, cut them out and coloured them with seedless preserves distress ink. The main image is a PA mini stamped in black archival.

More Birthday Surprises

A fabulous card from Deb (aka rustycage11) who for some reason thought it was 29th!!

This gorgeous hanger with fantastic crackle incorporating a tag a la Timmy style from Lesley who told me on Sunday it was still being constructed!!

And this fabulous book in varying shades and images of green and the card which houses an atc from my great friend Neet who for some reason had me down for 28th!!

And this Stampotique featured card from the lovely Alison whom I have known for ages and finally got to meet in April at Ally Pally.

And the last one I opened for today was this fantastic huge steampunk card from the lovely Carol, who again I met at Ally Pally but have known for ages.

Thanks to you all for carrying my birthday through the week!!

Also my prize from PanPastelUk came today along with my order from Craft Obsessions, so overall another lovely day.

Black and White

Leandra kindly brought me some PA wooden stamps she'd found at PAHQ which I bought on Sunday when I was at the Dome.  I decided to use one of the images to create this set of atc's along with the black and white pots of wow powder that I also picked up.

I started to experiment with the techniques -

Top left - picket fence distress paint stamped directly onto black card
Top right - picket fence distress paint stamped directly onto white card, covered with black soot distress ink to create a resist.
Bottom left -  versamark stamped directly onto black card, white wow powder
Bottom right - versamark stamped directly onto white card, black wow powder

Think Monday, think Atc have a black and white theme this week.

Trick or Treat Tag

Over on the PA blog Liz is back this week with some stunning Halloween projects which you can see here, here and here.  I've sort of combined elements from all of them.  I decided to use an MDF tag as I thought it would hold the painted GP better. By the way, painting with GP isn't as easy as you'd think!! I also mixed up way too much so added some tree branches through a stencil to the top and right hand side.

I stamped some PA images in black archival onto white card and cut them out.

Using my new tango and yellow submarine fresco paints bought at the weekend, I painted the tag. I also added in blood orange which is a kind of red.

Then I added some eggplant.  Close up of the GP Treat word.

And the trick and around the edge of the tag.

I also did the branches too.

Then I decided it wasn't dark enough so I went back in with some squid ink.

And added more to the branches too to get the depth.

I randomly stamped the background of the tag, painted and assembled the images.  Love the close up of this eye stamped in the middle of the flower head and mounted on a playing counter.  I also gave the green witch some blue eye shadow!!

And this is the finished tag.

There are lots of Spooky / Halloween (colour) challenges around at the moment, here are a few I'm entering into -

Tag Along have a theme of haunted house don't know if it will count as I was actually playing along with last weeks theme which was hocus pocus!!

PanPastelUk have a theme of autumn colours, so with the red, orange and yellow I thought this might count.

Simon Says Monday have a theme of spooky

Simon Says Wednesday have a theme of Halloween / colours

Country View Crafts have a theme of something spooky

Our Creative Corner have a theme of Halloween - let's tag it on

Try it on Tuesday have a theme of Halloween

Lace or Fabric - Stampotique

This is my last week of being on the Stampotique guest designers team and the theme set by France is Lace or Fabric.

Using an mdf man tag I coloured the background with vanilla, beach hut and south pacific fresco paints.   Background is stamped in various Stampotique images, hanging hearts, splatters and journey collage with black stazon.  The window frame is coloured with willow, lemonade and citrus alcohol inks, along with the flower head.  The background was stamped with Daniel's hearts and coloured with adirondack pens and pan pastels.  The flower stem is coloured with south pacific and stamped randomly with Carol's small flower.  Linda's head has been stamped onto the flower head.

Lace has been cut in the butterfly movers and shapers die and attached to a piece of chipboard cut in the same shape.  I trimmed the window sill and the flower head with lace too!!

Halloween Tag

I was playing with the CC102 brayering technique with the stains this afternoon.  Sorry for the bad photo but it's rained non stop!!  I used various shades of purple and orange and eventually added a small amount of black soot.  I stamped the PA skull in black archival, masked it off and stamped the background words down the right hand side.  The web and the bat are from TH stamp plates and again stamped in black archival.  Crystal gems were added for the eyes on both skulls, a couple of pumpkin charms and finally some fibres.

Birthday Thanks

Yesterday at the Dome I was given this fabulous card from Emma. She used distress stains for the background and little did she know that the stamp she's used is from the very first LP plate I ever bought!!

Just look at that fantastic head gear!!!

Now for those of you who don't know, we have a bit of an issue going on with PINK or should I say, minus green and flowers. Knowing this Leandra kindly made me a tag with an orange and minus green colour combo and a flower, I think it was intentional!! Oh, and by the way, I have no idea what the significance of the 4 and 3 are!!! Seriously, thank you, it's lovely.

Also at the show Gillian gave me a gorgeous tag, again with an LP image together with the LP 21 stamp plate which happened to be next on my list after using it at the LB weekend classes.

Yesterday at the show, Darcy gave me this beautiful card. She has stitched the paper and her handwriting inside is stunning.

And this was also given to me at the show and made by the lovely Linda (aka glamgran).  Now Linda always sticks up for me on Twitter when flowers and pink are involved so she decided to turn the tables and make this fun card and inside it said, are there enough flowers for you?

And this fabulous grungy card and tag book are from my mate Chris whom I have know for quite a long time now!!

Inside the tag book are lots of blanks of different varieties of surfaces and bless her, she's put a post it note on the back of each one letting me know what they all are.  But that front cover is totally amazing.

And this one came through the post earlier in the week from my lovely twitter friend, Helen.  She does some fab journal pages.

And this is the inside, gorgeous isn't it and fabulous colours.

The lovely Lin had been sneaky too, although she posted this absolutely gorgeous tag card, again using an LP image with all those fantastic gems, she had arranged to leave a gift voucher for me at the PA stand, thanks Lin, came in very handy when I got to the till y'day!!

And another fabulous card that came in the post this morning from another lovely Twitter friend, Kirsten.  So simple but very striking - gorgeous.

And the final one brought by the postie today was from my mate Burn who I've known for such a long time through blogland, but not actually met yet!!

And this digital masterpiece is from another Twitter friend, Massofhair, absolutely stunning isn't it.

So many thanks to each and every one of you for making my day that bit more special and also to everyone who left a message on Twitter for me this morning, my timeline was buzzing - awesome!!!
