Enjoy Life

The lovely Lin Brown of Yours Artfully has been demo-ing at Colemans and one of the samples she showed on her blog really caught my eye.  I loved the background and the way she'd used the stamps, so after gaining permission from her, I've loosely based my tag background around it.

This is an mdf-man tag, base painted with mushroom, with a bit of squid ink added.  A layer of crackle glaze, coated with nougat.  It didn't crack as much as I wanted, but it was fine.

Stamped the PA mini scripts and splatters in archival ink. In the blank space I stamped the main LP image also in archival.

Hey pesto and beach hut were lighted added to the background, together with olive bronze and sapphire treasure gold.

I then added a couple of different types of tissue tape.

A very small mdf cog was painted in snowflake and the face of the same LP image was stamped on the cog, hey pesto and sapphire treasure gold were used to colour the outside edges of the cog.

Fibres were added to finish.

Up for a Challenge

Emma challenged us to make anything but a tag using either all or a combination of the above colour pallet.  We were also allowed to use, black and/or white and had to incorporate a flower - yikes!!

So this is what I made.  I painted the background with sage fresco paint. I swiped chocolate pudding through a circles stencil and bumped it with elephant. I stamped the script in olive green stazon. Painted the mini frame with elephant and chocolate pudding and stamped a smaller script in black stazon.

The Paper Bag Studio image was stamped onto white card in timber brown stazon as well as the words, and to incorporate the caramel colour, I used a flower.

A Bright & Cheery Tag

I wanted to make this tag bright and cheery as it's for a twitter pal who's just come out of hospital after having an op.

Stampotique have a theme of 'tag, you're it' this week and Dragons Dream TIO have a recipe of paint, ribbon and a stencil, oh and don't forget, at least one real stamp.

Mdf tag was initially primed with snowflake fresco paint and then coloured with limelight and zesty zing.  The diamond stencil was used with beach hut.

Image stamped with black stazon, coloured with pens, masked off and stamped the background using my Traci Bautista stamp in lots of different colours of distress inks, picked raspberry, salty ocean, mowed lawn, rusty hinge, peacock feathers and probably some others.

I used my white posca pen to doodle on the background and the black for the edges and to outline the main image.

The sentiment is a Hero Arts stamp.

Lady of the North

I used the same ingredients to make the frame but coloured them with distress paint, picked raspberry, broken china and salty ocean.

Faces of a Lady

This shape was created using my Tonic window and TH pediments dies with patterned paper.  The green strips are my home made washi tape, and finished off with gems.

Images are from the LP006 plate and stamped onto white card with black archival ink.

Set of 3 Faces

Over at Fun with Atc's this week they are asking for a set of 3.  Also the theme I chose on PaperPlay for this months swap was faces.  So I used 3 separate LP images.

Down in the Dungeon

My LP image has been sent to the dungeons!! Background was created using the brick mask with grunge paste pushed through it. Coloured with French roast fresco paint and hi-lighted with nougat. I bought another window frame die by memory box which is slightly bigger than the tonic one and also has a sill.  I coloured the LP image with distress marker pens and a water brush.

You will also see another one of my mini metal handles from the MDF Man and the set of dungeon keys hung up with the Prima junkyard findings.

Over at Out of a Hat Creations this week, they have a theme of 'you hold the key', in this instance, the dungeon keys!!!

Oriental Box

Again, another pen pot I picked up last weekend from the MDF Man.  This one is a simple pot as it doesn't have the fancy base.

Again I turned it upside down so I had a top to the box, painted it in a few coats of snowflake fresco paint as I wanted a bright white.

Then I stamped various oriental images off the LP stamp Plates, this is from LP023. Stamped in black archival and hi-lighted in red posca pen and finished off with a bit of ruby treasure gold.

Image LP022, black archival, red posca pen and ruby treasure gold.

This image is from my new stamp plate LP025, which was my PA prize from last weeks blog challenge.  Stamped in black archival, red posca pen and ruby treasure gold.

And finally, Image LP023, black archival, red posca pen and ruby treasure gold.

A view from the side with ruby treasure gold spread down the corner but unfortunately you can't see it too well!!

Same again, two different sides but the treasure gold is more noticeable here.

And I used my second set of feet for the bottom of the box.

And finally the top.  Painted in blood orang fresco paint and the edges stamped in the oriental script from the ink and the dog plate, Asian #3.  All other images are from the LP plates stamped on white card, cut into a square and edged in black marker pen.

I have now had confirmation that The Three Muses challenge blog is for any type of artwork, so I'm entering again.

Also Altered Eclectics have a continuous anything goes theme.

Masking - Artful Times

Over at Artful Times this week the theme is all about masking.  I randomly ripped some pieces of tape off and stuck them to the card. Stamped the main TH image other background stamps in black stazon.  Coloured the background with shades of purple pan pastels and then coloured the image.

Oriental Window

Background shape is the cabinet die, cut in red card and chipboard.  The LP oriental image was stamped in versamark and covered in black embossing powder.  The window frame was cut from white card using my new tonic die.  The black die cut piece is from the Sizzix antique handles set and is hi-lighted with ruby treasure gold.  Fibres and a metal handle were added.  The black dots at the top are made using the ranger enamel accents.

Over at The Three Muses they have a challenge theme of red, black and white, but I'm not sure if they are just a digital challenge blog although in the blurp it does say that they welcome any art style, so I'm entering and will see what happens!!!

Window Box

I picked up a pen pot from the MDF Man on Saturday, along with a set of feet and some handles, with the intention of turning it upside down and using the bottom as a lid.

I painted each side in a colour of fresco paint, ice blue, guacamole, haystack and pansy.

I die cut 4 windows from white card using the tonic window die I also picked up on Saturday and painted them in the same colours as above, but forgot to paint the white one green!!!

And then I forgot to take any further photos until the finished piece!!!

I stencilled on each panel in a darker colour.  Then stamped various LP images in black archival onto each side.  I did have to do a bit of faffing beforehand to see where the cross on the window would fall.

Pansy, with squid ink through the mini burst stencil and LP005 image.  Hi-lighted with white posca pen.

Ice blue, with Baltic blue through the mini Roman letters stencil and LP008 image. Hi-lighted cheeks!

Guacamole, with Hyde park through the mini cubist stencil and LP006 image. Hi-lighted cheeks.

Haystack, with brown shed through mini ledger stencil and LP001 image.  Hi-lighted cheeks.

Side view, purple and yellow panels

Side view green and blue panels.  I also painted the top in squid ink fresco paint and added a mini handle.

Shrink Plastic Bracelet

Over on the PA blog this week Carol is back again charming us with her fab idea of a shrink plastic bracelet which you can see here.

I die cut, sanded and painted as per Carols brief.  I used the largest and middle sizes of the Sizzix Primitive Hearts Die, together with the whole heart from T!m's Heart Wings die with guacamole fresco paint as it's a light but opaque colour.

Stamped various LP images onto each shape using black archival ink.

The next stage is very important, remember to put a hole somewhere on them so you can put the jump rings on when they've been shrunk.  It's much harder to do this the other way round!!

This is the un-shrunk largest heart on the left and on the right is what it shrinks down to.

And same again but this is using the TH heart shape.

Now my luck with triple embossing UTEE is about the same as Helen's with shrink plastic, not a marriage made in heaven.  So I decided to forgo this stage but instead gave each piece 2 coats of satin glaze.

And finally I edged them with gold liquid leaf and added a jump ring to each one.

And attached them to a piece of chain with a further jump ring and added a clasp.

And this is it opened out.

New Stash

Oooh I forgot to show you my stash from yesterdays Summer Crafting show at Doncaster Race Course this weekend.  For a change I went on the Saturday, and I am so pleased I did, even though it was soooo hot, but the hosts were great.  There were stand alone air conditioning units scattered all around and FREE iced water and plastic cups on the go all day.

The MDF-Man stand was ransacked by about 2pm and heard a rumour that they'd brought all the stock they had with them and had nothing to re-stock with for Sunday as everyone was taking advantage of their fab pieces and cheap prices!!!  As you can see, I didn't miss out either!!

Summer Sizzler

I started off by colouring an mdf plaque with honey dew, haystack, autumn fire, smoked paprika, zesty zing, claret and blood orange.

I stamped a mixture of my new LP stamp plates from CVC's, LP001 and LP011, along with PA minis, script and splatter in coloured stazon ink, black, mustard, pumpkin and blaze red.  I hi-lighted with both a black and a white posca pen.

Summer Sizzler is this months CVC's challenge theme and again I've gone with a summer colour combo.

Vintage French Flair a La PA Style

France has been inspiring us again this week over on the PA blog.  I adapted her day #3 tag technique with the tissue paper, fresco paint, stencilling and stamping.

I then added the stitching.

And finally the embellishments and the finished tag.

Now I don't normally do this, but as I was reading down the list, all these challenges just seemed to fit together perfectly.

Dragons Dream - TIO - have a recipe of vintage, texture and flowers, and you have to include at least one real stamp, so I stamped the PA french script in the background using timber brown stazon.

**Edited**  I made top 3 for this tag

Stampotique's theme this week is 'French flair', hence the Eiffel tower die image and French script stamping.

Simon says stamp challenge have a theme of 'pin it' where they want to see our pins, paper clips etc, so I've added a hat pin to the hessian, the scroll is a type of paper clip and the destiny tag is attached to the ribbon with a mini safety pin.

Remember When .....

I came across this oval piece of wood whilst looking for something else!!  I gave it a coat of mushroom fresco paint, randomly spread on crackle paste, the added a mix of nougat and Irish cream for the top coat.

And somehow ended up with this!!!

Don't worry, you've not come to the wrong blog!!  I was inspired by Minxy aka Nicky with her new shabby chic projects when I was making!!!

I used watered down antique linen, spun sugar and seedless preserve distress stains to colour the strip of net curtain that I cut off for the frill around the edge!!

The hearts, leaves and butterfly are made from moulds using paper clay kindly given to me by Pink Sparkle Days aka Emma.  They have been coloured with distress ink markers.

I'd like to enter into the following challenges,
Ali-Craft - butterflies
Hobby House - vintage
Our Creative Corner - captured memories
Altered Eclectics - anything goes
